Accurate estimation of landslide depth is essential for practical hazard assessment and risk mitigation. This work addresses the problem of determining landslide depth from satellite-derived elevation data. Using the principle of mass conservation, this problem can be formulated as a linear inverse problem.

Method: Relevant literature (randomized controlled studies, retrospective studies and reviews) was explored on PubMed from January 1973 to January 2024, searching "orbital radiotherapy" & "Graves disease".
Acute necrotizing encephalopathy (ANE) is a rare disease not yet described in children with Covid-19. RANBP2 gene variations are implicated in recurrences in the genetic form of ANE, the so called ANE1. We report the first case of pediatric ANE1 following Sars-CoV-2 infection.

Symptoms started the day after his third COVID-19 mRNA vaccine (Moderna) whereas SARS-CoV-2 nasal swab was negative. View Article and Find Full Text PDFIn large areas of the Italian Northern Apennines, hundreds of low-yield springs provide water for drinking and industrial purposes, with short groundwater flow paths being formed within fractured sedimentary rock units. This hydrogeological setting results in spring water discharges that closely follow meteoric water recharge patterns, leading to low-flow periods concentrated in the summer/early autumn. Therefore, the springs' outflow can be very sensitive to a shortage in water recharge, as it was the case in 2003 and 2017, when a prolonged period of drought caused severe water management issues.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIntroduction: The capability of CT perfusion (CTP) Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) to predict outcome and identify ischemia severity in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients is still questioned.
Methods: 62 patients with AIS were imaged within 8 hours of symptom onset by non-contrast CT, CT angiography and CTP scans at admission and 24 hours. CTP ASPECTS was calculated on the affected hemisphere using cerebral blood flow (CBF), cerebral blood volume (CBV) and mean transit time (MTT) maps by subtracting 1 point for any abnormalities visually detected or measured within multiple cortical circular regions of interest according to previously established thresholds.
Introduction: Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) studies focusing on apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) abnormalities have provided conflicting results about the nature and fate of perihematomal edema.
Methods: We investigated 35 patients with supratentorial spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (SICH) by using DWI scanning obtained at 48 h and 7 days after symptom onset. Regional ADC (rADC) values were measured in three manually outlined regions of interest: (1) the perihematomal hyperintense area, (2) 1 cm of normal appearing brain tissue surrounding the perilesional hyperintense rim, and (3) a mirror area, including the clot and the perihematomal region, located in the contralateral hemisphere.

Insulin and glucagon secretion were studied during an oral glucose tolerance test and arginine infusion in 11 patients with thalassaemia intermedia, who showed laboratory evidence of iron overload. Mean blood glucose concentrations in patients with thalassaemia intermedia were significantly higher than normal and 3 of 11 patients had impaired glucose tolerance. The principal abnormality appears to be a deficiency in insulin and glucagon from the pancreas in response to oral glucose tolerance and arginine stimulation tests.
