Objective: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) spread globally, including across Europe, resulting in different morbidity and mortality outcomes. The aim of this study was to explore the progression of the COVID-19 pandemic over 18 mo in relation to the effect of COVID-19 vaccination at a population level across 35 nations in Europe, while evaluating the data for cross-border epidemiological trends to identify any pertinent lessons that can be implemented in the future.
Methods: Epidemiological data were obtained from European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control and Our World in Data databases while Ministry of Health websites of each respective country and local newspapers were used for COVID-19-related vaccination strategies.
Human studies about the impact of cannabis use on both healthy kidneys as well as kidney function in patients with kidney disease are lacking. To shed more light on this understudied topic, we reevaluated a previous clinical study. The sample of this study was exclusively suited for investigating effects of recreational long-term cannabis use on humans under real-life conditions.

Little is known about etiological factors in Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). Cognitive behavioral and diathesis-stress models have implicated teasing and bullying as significant early environmental stressful triggers. Due to these implications, this study aimed to assess the emergence of BDD in children during early development, and to see if bullying experiences played a role in its development.

In Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), overvalued ideas (OVI) are considered poor prognostic indicators in adults. To date, OVI has not been studied in an adolescent population with OCD, nor has it been examined in relation to obsessive-compulsive beliefs. To investigate the relationship between OVI and specific cognitions, fifty-five adolescents with OCD (35 male; 20 female; age range 13-17 years; M=14.

The secondary objective was to assess the effects of patient body mass index and EP satisfaction with bedside ultrasound on sensitivity and specificity.
Methods: A prospective study was conducted for patients with clinical suspicion for lower extremity thrombus.
Objective: To investigate the impact of inpatient detoxification treatment on psychiatric symptoms of chronic cannabis addicts and to analyze the influence of serum cannabinoid levels on the severity of these symptoms.
Methods: Thirty five treatment-seeking, not active co-morbid chronic cannabis dependents (ICD-10) were studied on admission and on abstinence days 8 and 16, using several observational and self-report scales, such as Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD), Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAMA), Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS) and Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS), and the Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R). Simultaneously obtained serum was analyzed with regard to levels of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and its main metabolites 11-hydroxy-delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC-OH) and 11-nor-delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol-9-carboxylic acid (THC-COOH).
The release of phosphorus from soils in surface runoff is strongly influenced by fertilizer inputs and contributes significantly to agriculturally driven eutrophication. This work evaluated the forms and availability of P in bulk soils and suspended solids (SS) produced by a water dispersion test that mimics the action of rain events and/or irrigation. This test was applied on soils cultivated with maize and fertilized with mineral N, P, and K (NPK); mineral P and K (PK); bovine slurry and P (S); or manure and P (M) for 15 yr.

Aims: Depression is a recognized risk marker for mortality among acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients. We hypothesized that ventricular arrhythmia detected by inpatient telemetry monitoring is more frequent among ACS patients with elevated depressive symptoms compared to those without depressive symptoms.
Methods And Results: We analysed data from patients enrolled in a prospective observational study of depression in ACS.

The scarcity of cost-effective patient identification methods represents a significant barrier to clinical research. Research recruitment alerts have been designed to facilitate physician referrals but limited support is available to clinical researchers. We conducted a retrospective data analysis to evaluate the efficacy of a real-time patient identification alert delivered to clinical research coordinators recruiting for a clinical prospective cohort study.

The Argentine population seeks out plastic surgery at a disproportionate rate and exhibits high rates of preoccupation with bodily dissatisfaction, yet BDD is unrecognized and research is limited. The current study describes the prevalence, quality of life, and presentation style of BDD in depressed adolescents, as depression is the most common symptom for which adolescents seek treatment in Argentina.

The different signaling pathways involved in the autoantibody's actions, were characterized. As previously reported serum autoantibodies from schizophrenic patients reacted against neural cells surface inhibiting the binding of the specific mAChR radioligand to rat cerebral frontal cortex membrane.

Independently to the kinetic of proliferation and relative to the number of receptors displayed in normal T lymphocytes, BW5147 cells displayed a decreased number of betaAR, uncoupled to adenylate cyclase, but coupled to protein kinase C stimulation. This last effect was impaired by a beta-antagonist and by blockers of the enzymatic pathways involved in T lymphocyte proliferation, inducing a recovery of betaAR sites.

Its action on phosphoinositide (PI) turnover was studied on cerebral cortex preparations. It induces an increase in inositol phosphate (IP) accumulation, which was only blunted by the alpha1-adrenoceptor blocker prazosin.

The neuroleptic exerts a biphasic effect on nitric oxide synthase (NOS), inhibiting the enzymatic activity at low concentrations (10(-9) M), while higher concentrations (10(-5) M) increased it. Protein kinase C (PKC) and phosphoinositol turnover (PIs) were involved in these actions, as haloperidol induced PKC translocation at low concentrations, and increased PIs turnover at high concentrations.

Furthermore, it abolishes cocaine self-administration and conditioned place preference, while having no effect on locomotor activity or drug delivery to the brain. In an effort to better understand the mechanisms underlying this inhibition, we examined the effect of the selective GABA(B) receptor antagonist SCH 50911 on the GVG-induced decrease in cocaine's elevation of extracellular DA concentrations in the nucleus accumbens (NACC).

Biochemical signalling events coupled to muscarinic cholinergic receptors (mAChR), specifically those related to nitric oxide (NO) production, were studied on rat cerebral frontal cortex. The mAChR agonist carbachol was found to exert a specific biphasic action on NO synthase (NOS) activity: low doses ranging between 10(-9) M to 10(-7) M lead to NOS activation while higher doses (>10(-6) M) inhibited enzymatic activity. Carbachol stimulatory action was blunted by agents that interfere with calcium-calmodulin while a protein kinase (PKC) inhibitor, staurosporine was able to abrogate the inhibitory effect.
