Malignant ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors belong to a specific type of ovarian epithelial carcinoma, and their prognosis is related to the kind of pathology. Unlike epithelial ovarian cancer, most malignant ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors are low-grade malignant and have a good prognosis. Still, they have a tendency to recur in the long term, and the mortality rate of patients after recurrence is high.

Ovarian tissue cryopreservation and transplantation (OCT) has been sufficiently proven effective and feasible to preserve fertility for women especially for prepubertal girls suffering from cancer with radiotherapy and chemotherapy. However, grafts' survival, significant follicle loss and a delay of revascularization during OCT still need to be resolved no matter what kind of cryopreserved method being used. As widely used in consumer products, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) has become a common environmental pollutant, which has been detected in human serum and associated with cancers. Our previous study showed that PFOA is a carcinogen that promotes endometrial cancer cell migration and invasion through activation of ERK/mTOR signaling. Here, we showed that PFOA (≥100 nM) treatment also stimulated A2780 ovarian cancer cell invasion and migration, which correlated with increased matrix metalloproteinases MMP-2/-9 expression, important proteases associated with tumor invasion and migration.

Objective: To explore the feasibility, safety, efficacy, and cosmetic outcomes of transvaginal endoscopic salpingectomy for tubal ectopic pregnancy.

Methods: From May 2009 to May 2012, we prospectively enrolled 40 patients, each of whom had been scheduled for a salpingectomy because of a tubal ectopic pregnancy, and randomized them into two groups: transvaginal endoscopic surgery and laparoscopic approach. We recorded the estimated blood loss, time of anal exhaust, postoperative pain score, length of stay, and scar assessment scale associated with transvaginal endoscopic access (n = 18) (natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery) and laparoscopic salpingectomy (n = 20) (control group) for tubal ectopic pregnancy.

SET has multiple cell functions including nucleosome assembly, histone binding, transcription control, and cell apoptosis. In ovaries SET is predominantly expressed in theca cells and oocytes. In our study, SET overexpression in theca cells stimulated testosterone production whereas SET knockdown decreased testosterone production.
