Background: Gigantomastia is a disabling condition characterized by excess breast tissue. Historically, free nipple graft (FNG) has been preferred, prioritizing the nipple-areola complex (NAC) vascularity. The NAC-carrying pedicle technique, which is most commonly used in case of hypertrophy of the breast, has been suggested as a viable alternative for gigantomastia according to recent evidence, with reduced rates of NAC necrosis and improved outcomes.

Background: Autoantibodies are found in up to 80 % of patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) and are associated with distinct clinical phenotypes. Autoantibodies targeting cytosolic 5'-nucleotidase 1A (anti-NT5C1A) are currently the only known serum biomarker for the subgroup inclusion body myositis (IBM), although detected even in other autoimmune diseases. Dermal substitutes require sufficient tissue integration and vascularization to be successfully covered with split-thickness skin grafts. To rapidly achieve this, we provide the proof of principle for a novel vascularization strategy with high translational potential. Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare and chronic connective tissue disease of unknown aetiology and characterised by three main pathogenetic events represented by endothelial damage, inflammation with activation of the immune system leading to production of specific autoantibodies and finally fibrosis. SSc is a heterogeneous disease and the classification in two subsets, the limited cutaneous (lcSSc) subset and the diffuse cutaneous one (dcSSc), is not capable of capturing the broad and different phenotypic expression of the disease. In the last years progress has been made in the knowledge of SSc pathogenesis, in its early diagnosis and new therapeutic strategies have been proposed, however, the management of SSc still represents a challenge for the clinician.

A simple kinetic model allowed for the description of the observed decay of the oxygen content in hypoxic aqueous samples with and without headspace, in the presence of glucose oxidase (Glucox) or laccase and their substrates (glucose for Glucox and ABTS for Laccase). The experimental tests involved both the direct measurement of the oxygen content with a fluorescence-based probe and the indirect stopped-flow spectroscopic detection of colored compounds generated from suitable chromogenic reagents. The complete depletion of dissolved oxygen occurred in the no-headspace samples, whereas some residual oxygen remained in a steady state in the samples with headspace.

This contribution focuses on the earliest steps of the assembly of FeS clusters and their insertion into acceptor apoproteins, that call for transient formation of a 2Fe2S cluster on a scaffold protein from sulfide and iron salts. For the sake of simplicity, this report is essentially limited to the Escherichia coli isc-encoded proteins and does not take into account agents that modulate the enzymatic synthesis of sulfide by protein in the same operon or the redox events associated with both sulfide generation and conversion of 2Fe2S structures in clusters of higher nuclearity. Therefore, the results discussed here are based on chemical reconstitution systems using inorganic sulfide, ferric salts, and excess thiols.

The efficacy of the Cool Kids program has been consistently demonstrated both within Australia and internationally, but limited data are available on the use of Cool Kids as a universal program. The purpose of the study is to evaluate Cool Kids as a universal program for preventing childhood anxiety in the school context. There were 73 Italian children (35 boys and 36 girls, ages 10-13 years) attending the last year of primary school and the first year of middle school who participated in an active intervention based on a school adaptation of the Cool Kids protocol.

Objectives: We performed a retrospective and prospective observational study to investigate whether the T lymphocyte activation antigen dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP4)/CD26 is expressed in the skeletal muscle of patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) and whether its expression offers clues to understand the events taking place in the tissue.

Methods: CD26 expression in the muscle, evaluated by immunofluorescence, was assessed in 32 patients with IIM and 5 healthy controls and compared among patients with dermatomyositis (DM), immune-mediated necrotising myopathy (IMNM), inclusion body myositis (IBM), and polymyositis (PM). All Fe-S proteins are characterized by distinctive circular dichroism (CD) features in the visible region of the spectrum due to chiral interaction between the cluster itself and the protein backbone. Therefore, the presence of a CD signal in the visible region relates to the presence of the cluster, whereas the disappearance of the signal refers to cluster breakdown or redox changes. The position of the CD features in the spectrum and the intensity of individual components of the CD signal show great variations among different Fe-S proteins.
