Aims: To introduce the admission protocol of a COVID-19 specialized hospital outlined by the government, including the assessment of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), low dose chest computed tomography (CT) and antigen-detecting rapid diagnostic test (Ag-RDT) for patient screening.

Materials And Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of 646 patients who were admitted between December 2020, and February 2021, during the third wave of COVID-19 in Korea. Ag-RDT and RT-PCR were routinely performed on all patients who required admission, and low-dose chest CT was performed on high-risk patients with associated symptoms.

Background: Entecavir (ETV) has potent antiviral activity against hepatitis B virus (HBV), and the emergence of drug resistance is rare in nucleoside-naive patients. Resistance requires simultaneous appearance of three mutations which account for the very low resistance profile of ETV. We experienced one case of genotypic ETV resistance with viral rebound during ETV treatment of nucleoside-naive patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB).

Background: The clinical effect of probiotics on irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is still controversial.

Aims: We aimed to evaluate the effects of a probiotic mixture on IBS symptoms and the composition of fecal microbiota in patients with diarrhea-dominant IBS (D-IBS).

Methods: Fifty patients with D-IBS were randomized into placebo or probiotic mixture (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium lactis, Bifidobacterium longum, and Streptococcus thermophilus 1.

However, PCR is not routinely performed in all hospital laboratories. Recently, immunohistochemistry (IHC) for MLH1 and MSH2 proteins has been reported as a rapid and useful method for MSI.
