Background And Aims: We examined the incidence and natural history of patients with very elderly onset (herein referred to as very late-onset) inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs) (≥ 70 years of age at diagnosis), compared with patients diagnosed between 60 and 69 years of age in Denmark.
Methods: In the Danish National Patient Register, between 1980 and 2018, we identified all individuals ≥ 60 years of age with newly diagnosed Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) and examined trends in incidence, cumulative risk of hospitalization, treatment patterns, IBD-related surgery, serious infection, cancer and cardiovascular and venous thromboembolic risks among very late-onset (70-79 years of age or 80+ years) vs late-onset (60-69 years of age) IBD, using nonparametric competing risk analysis treating death as competing risk.
Results: We identified 3459 patients with onset of CD at ≥60 years of age (47% ≥ 70 years of age) and 10,774 patients with onset of UC ≥60 years of age (51% ≥ 70 years of age).
Objective: In utero exposure to maternal inflammation may impact immune system development and subsequent risk of disease. We investigated whether a maternal diagnosis of IBD before childbirth is linked to a higher risk of IBD in offspring compared with a diagnosis after childbirth. Further, we analysed paternal IBD status for comparison.

Longer-term follow-up is needed to confirm sustained improvements in these outcomes.
Methods: The prospective, single-arm, multicentre TRISCEND study enrolled 176 patients to evaluate the safety and performance of transcatheter TV replacement in patients with ≥moderate, symptomatic TR despite medical therapy.
Introduction: There is growing interest in the prediagnostic phase of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and in the overlap of IBD with other diseases. We described and compared use of any prescription medication between individuals with and without IBD in a 10-year period preceding diagnosis.
Methods: Based on cross-linked nationwide registers, we identified 29,219 individuals diagnosed with IBD in Denmark between 2005 and 2018 and matched to 292,190 IBD-free individuals.
Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is a recognized therapy for patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis (AS). TAVI is superior compared to medical therapy as for mortality in extreme-risk patients, is non-inferior or superior to surgery in high-risk patients and non-inferior to surgery in intermediate-risk patients. However, several limitations affect outcomes after TAVI.

The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that an elevated fasting serum ferritin level is associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes due to its association with impaired beta cell function and decreased insulin sensitivity.
Methods: We investigated 6,392 individuals from the Danish general population.
Purpose: This study was designed to investigate methods to help patients suffering from unilateral tinnitus synthesizing an auditory replica of their tinnitus.
Materials And Methods: Two semi-automatic methods (A and B) derived from the auditory threshold of the patient and a method (C) combining a pure tone and a narrow band-pass noise centred on an adjustable frequency were devised and rated on their likeness over two test sessions. A third test evaluated the stability over time of the synthesized tinnitus replica built with method C, and its proneness to merge with the patient's tinnitus.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of sex on the prognosis of high risk acute coronary syndromes treated early with angioplasty. Over a period of two years, 694 consecutive patients (151 female, 543 male) underwent revascularisation within the first 24 hours of an acute coronary syndrome without permanent ST elevation (ST depression (52.5%) or relapse of angina despite medical treatment (47.

In the present study, four cases of early postoperative constrictive pericarditis have been described which serve as a basis for recalling the current main echographic features of this disorder: pericardial thickening, abnormal septal movement with inspiratory expansion of the right ventricle, respiratory variations in ventricular filling, characteristic modifications in the supra-hepatic pulmonary venous flow, and pulmonary insufficiency. Some hypotheses have also been presented on the possible etiology of this disease. The necessity of making a precise and rapid diagnosis, which should also be confirmed by catheterization to ensure the appropriateness of therapy, has been emphasized.

We report on the detection of a primitive cardiac lymphoma revealed by a cerebral vascular accident in a context of deterioration of the general state with fever. The diagnosis of the cerebral vascular accident was verified by the brain scan. The echocardiography, in particular the transesophageal ultrasound, suggested the diagnosis of cardiac lymphoma due to the existence of an inhomogeneous multilobar mass invading the right ventricle and largely encompassing the right auricle.

This monocentric register included 200 consecutive procedures (233 lesions) of 5F PTCA by a femoral approach after a bolus of standard heparin (50 to 70 IU/kg). The population included 15.

The authors undertook a prospective study of the association of echocardiography, mitral Doppler and pulsed Doppler tissue imaging of the left ventricular lateral and posterior walls in the context of this problem in 20 patients without cardiac disease undergoing cancer chemotherapy including anthracyclines. Doppler echocardiography was performed before the first session of chemotherapy and at the end of treatment, 6 +/- 4 months later.

In the early phase of myocardial infarction, part of the myocardium may be stunned and responsible for marked segmental wall dysfunction which is potentially reversible. The authors studied the potential of low dose dobutamine echocardiography to predict secondary improvement of left ventricular systolic function in 21 patients with recent inaugural myocardial infarction without primary angioplasty.
