Objective: Sleep bruxism (SB) is associated with alterations in dopamine and serotonin, which are related to increased consumption of added sugar and overuse of screens. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of the interventions 'Food, Fun and Family' (FFF) and Counselling and Education (CE) on the frequency of SB in children.
Methods: A randomised clinical trial was conducted.
Background: Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have an increased risk of developing serious infections (SIs) vs. individuals without RA; efforts to predict SIs in this patient group are ongoing. We assessed the ability of different machine learning modeling approaches to predict SIs using baseline data from the tofacitinib RA clinical trials program.

This post hoc analysis assessed whether various statistical techniques could predict outcomes of tofacitinib maintenance therapy in patients with UC.
Methods: Data from patients who participated in a 52-week, phase III maintenance study (OCTAVE Sustain) and an open-label long-term extension study (OCTAVE Open) were included in this analysis.
Introduction: We sought to predict analgesic response to daily oral nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or subcutaneous tanezumab 2.5 mg (every 8 weeks) at week 16 in patients with moderate-to-severe osteoarthritis, based on initial treatment response over 8 weeks.
Methods: Data were derived from three randomized controlled trials of osteoarthritis.
Introduction: We sought to identify and characterize distinct responder profiles among osteoarthritis (OA) subjects treated with tanezumab, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or placebo.
Methods: Subject-level data were derived from three randomized, double-blind, placebo- or NSAID-controlled trials of tanezumab in subjects with moderate-to-severe OA. Subjects received subcutaneous tanezumab (2.
Despite operative benefit and oncological non-inferiority, videolaparoscopic (VLS) colorectal surgery is still relatively underutilized. This study analyzes the results of a program for the implementation of VLS colorectal surgery started in an Italian comprehensive cancer center shortly before COVID-19 outbreak. A prospective database was reviewed.

Background: Pancreatic incidental lesions are more commonly diagnosed, due to the widespread of high quality cross sectional imaging.
Introduction: Tofacitinib is an oral, small molecule Janus kinase inhibitor for the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC). Outcome prediction based on early treatment response, along with clinical and laboratory variables, would be very useful for clinical practice. The aim of this study was to determine early variables predictive of responder status in patients with UC treated with tofacitinib.

Eosinopenia was often noticed in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia, but its role is poorly investigated. The aim of the present study was to investigate the characteristics and clinical outcomes of patients with COVID-19 pneumonia and eosinopenia.

Utilization of available patient databases may improve the prediction of treatment responses. We evaluated machine learning methods to predict novel, individual patient responses to pregabalin for painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy, utilizing an agent-based modeling and simulation platform that integrates real-world observational study (OS) data and randomized clinical trial (RCT) data.

The aim of the present study was to compare the 5-year disease-free survival (DFS) probability between neoadjuvant CRT and upfront surgery in patients affected by cT3N0 rectal cancer.
Methods: A retrospective review of 105 patients affected by cT3N0 rectal cancer, staged by pelvic magnetic resonance imaging and treated at the National Cancer Institute of Milan between 2011 and 2017, was performed: 42 (40.
Prior work applied hierarchical clustering, coarsened exact matching (CEM), time series regressions with lagged variables as inputs, and microsimulation to data from three randomized clinical trials (RCTs) and a large German observational study (OS) to predict pregabalin pain reduction outcomes for patients with painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Here, data were added from six RCTs to reduce covariate bias of the same OS and improve accuracy and/or increase the variety of patients for pain response prediction. Using hierarchical cluster analysis and CEM, a matched dataset was created from the OS (N = 2642) and nine total RCTs (N = 1320).

Our goal was to predict, with at least 90% accuracy, 12- to 13-week outcomes for pregabalin-treated painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy (pDPN) patients based on 4 weeks of pain and pain-related sleep interference data.
Methods: We utilized active treatment data from six placebo-controlled randomized controlled trials (n = 939) designed to evaluate efficacy of pregabalin for reducing pain in patients with pDPN.
Introduction: Achieving a therapeutic response to pregabalin in patients with painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy (pDPN) requires adequate upward dose titration. Our goal was to identify relationships between titration and response to pregabalin in patients with pDPN.
Methods: Data were integrated from nine randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials as well as one 6-week open-label observational study conducted by 5808 physicians (2642 patients with pDPN) in standard outpatient settings in Germany.
Background: Patients with ST-segment elevation (STEMI) have totally occluded vessels, while patients with non-ST-segment elevation (NSTEMI) present partial vessel occlusion, which may generate different levels of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the oxidative profile in AMI patients with ST segment elevation and non-STEMI as well as control subjects.
Methods: This study was carried with 46 AMI patients divided into STEMI and NSTEMI.
Context: Syzygium cumini (Myrtaceae) presents antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, hypoglycemic and antibacterial effects; however, the cellular and molecular mechanisms of action in the immune system are not yet completely elucidated.
Objective: This study evaluates the in vitro effect of gallic acid and aqueous S. cumini leaf extract (ASc) on adenosine deaminase (ADA) and dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV) activities, cell viability and oxidative stress parameters in lymphocytes exposed to 2, 2'-azobis-2-amidinopropane dihydrochloride (AAPH).

Background: The hydrolysis of adenine nucleotide linked to the membrane of the platelets is changed in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) probably due to a greater arterial blockage and cell damage in patients with ST elevation (STEMI) than in those without ST segment elevation (NSTEM).
Methods: This study aimed to compare the extracellular hydrolysis of adenine nucleotides on the platelet surface of STEMI and NSTEMI patients. This study was carried out with 50 patients with AMI (STEMI and NSTEMI).

Background: The effects of the aqueous seed extract of Syzygium cumini (ASc) in a short-term model of diabetes in rats are little explored. The present study was designed to evaluate the effect of the ASc on adenosine deaminase (ADA) activity and on biochemical and histopathological parameters in diabetic rats.
Methods: ASc (100 mg/kg) was administered for 21 days in control and streptozotocin (STZ)-induced (60 mg/kg) diabetic rats.
Background: Obesity is the hallmark of the metabolic syndrome representing a major global health problem. It is considered a state of chronic inflammation with minimal exploration of salivary biomarkers. Thus, the intent of the present study was to assess the activities of salivary dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV), adenosine deaminase (ADA) and lipid peroxidation in obese young and overweight young subjects.
