This is a case report of a patient with a history of liver transplant who developed interstitial pneumonitis due to immunosuppressive treatment. Everolimus-induced pneumonitis in liver transplant recipients is a rare condition. This observation aims to highlight the significance of being aware of this condition, being suspicious of it, and getting a proper diagnosis and treatment.

Comparison of psychopathology, purpose in life and moral courage between nursing home and hospital healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic deeply affected healthcare workers, although the impact may have differed according to different workplace contexts. The aim of this current research was to compare the psychopathology presented by hospital versus nursing home healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic and to analyse the predictive role of purpose in life and moral courage in the appearance of psychopathology. This was an observational, cross-sectional study carried out on a sample of 108 healthcare workers, 54 each from a hospital or nursing homes, who were recruited during the 5 and 6th waves of the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain.

In silico analysis of alpha-synuclein protein variants and posttranslational modifications related to Parkinson's disease.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is among the most prevalent neurodegenerative disorders, affecting over 10 million people worldwide. The protein encoded by the SNCA gene, alpha-synuclein (ASYN), is the major component of Lewy body (LB) aggregates, a histopathological hallmark of PD. Mutations and posttranslational modifications (PTMs) in ASYN are known to influence protein aggregation and LB formation, possibly playing a crucial role in PD pathogenesis.

Mental fatigue impairs repeated sprint and jump performance in team sport athletes.

Objectives: We tested whether mental fatigue (MF), induced by a cognitively-demanding task, would impair repeated sprint ability (RSA) and repeated jump ability (RJA) performance, and whether physical fatigue and MF would impair psychomotor vigilance.

Design: Randomized within-participant design.

Methods: After establishing baseline peak countermovement jump (CMJ), 18 male participants performed 12 maximal 20-m (10-m linear + 10-m directional) repeated sprints (RSA random test) followed by 12 maximal repeated CMJs (RJA test) subsequent to 30-min Stroop task (MF) or a documentary (Control).

EUROCAT is a European network of population-based congenital anomaly (CA) registries. Twenty-one registries agreed to participate in the EUROlinkCAT study to determine if reliable information on the survival of children born with a major CA between 1995 and 2014 can be obtained through linkage to national vital statistics or mortality records. Live birth children with a CA could be linked using personal identifiers to either their national vital statistics (including birth records, death records, hospital records) or to mortality records only, depending on the data available within each region.

The Role of Changing Loop Conformations in Streptavidin Versions Engineered for High-affinity Binding of the Strep-tag II Peptide.

The affinity system based on the artificial peptide ligand Strep-tag® II and engineered tetrameric streptavidin, known as Strep-Tactin®, offers attractive applications for the study of recombinant proteins, from detection and purification to functional immobilization. To further improve binding of the Strep-tag II to streptavidin we have subjected two protruding loops that shape its ligand pocket for the peptide - instead of D-biotin recognized by the natural protein - to iterative random mutagenesis. Sequence analyses of hits from functional screening assays revealed several unexpected structural motifs, such as a disulfide bridge at the base of one loop, replacement of the crucial residue Trp120 by Gly and a two-residue deletion in the second loop.

ReMindCare App for Early Psychosis: Pragmatic Real World Intervention and Usability Study.

Background: eHealth interventions are widely used in clinical trials and increasingly in care settings as well; however, their efficacy in real-world contexts remains unknown. ReMindCare is a smartphone app that has been systematically implemented in a first episode of psychosis program (FEPP) for patients with early psychosis since 2018.

Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the efficacy of ReMindCare after 19 months of use in the clinic and varying use by individual patients.

ReMindCare, an app for daily clinical practice in patients with first episode psychosis: A pragmatic real-world study protocol.

Aim: Despite the potential benefits of e-health interventions for patients with psychosis, the integration of these applications into the clinical workflow and analysis of their long-term effects still face significant challenges. To address these issues, we developed the ReMindCare app. This app aims to improve the treatment quality for patients with psychosis.
