Lack of Truth-Telling in Palliative Care and Its Effects among Nurses and Nursing Students.

Unclear communication of inauspicious prognoses may disorientate both patients and their relatives, drastically jeopardizing the planning of palliative care. This paper considers the issue of truth-telling in the communicative problems of nurses and students of nursing with terminally ill patients. The fundamental objective is the analysis of the difficulties related to the lack of truth-telling and how it might impact their professional and personal lives.

Mucinous adenocarcinoma of the urinary bladder.

Background: Mucinous adenocarcinoma of the urinary bladder is a rare primary urologic disease, poorly responsive to radiation or chemotherapy as first-line treatment.

Case Report: After trans-urethral resection of the bladder, a 62-year-old woman was diagnosed with mucinous adenocarcinoma of the urinary bladder. An upper gastro-intestinal endoscopy and a colonoscopy excluded any primary site of origin from those gastro-intestinal tracts.

[Effectiveness of IPD treatment for delirium prevention in hospitalized elderly. A controlled randomized clinical trial].

Delirium is a common and serious complication for hospitalized elderly people. Early detection of risk and preventive treatment may significantly reduce delirium and its consequences. In Inouye's study of elderly people with delirium (1993), an interesting predictive model was proposed ,but never applied, for hospitalized elderly.

Multifocal epithelioid angiosarcoma of bone: a potential pitfall in the differential diagnosis with metastatic carcinoma.

A case of multifocal epithelioid angiosarcoma of the femur, tibia, fibula, and astragalus in a 54-year-old man is reported. The tumor was composed of nests and cords of malignant cells with epithelioid morphology, with foci of vascular differentiation, necrosis, and hemorrhage. By immunohistochemistry, the neoplastic cells showed positivity for endothelial cell markers (CD31, CD34, factor VIII-related antigen, and Ulex europaeus agglutinin I), epithelial markers (cytokeratins and epithelial membrane antigen), and vimentin.
