- Digestive organ cancers, particularly stomach, esophageal, and liver cancers, are a significant public health concern in Mongolia, with inadequate nationwide research on their incidence.
- Between 2009 and 2018, research revealed an esophageal cancer incidence of 10.09 per 100,000, with highest rates in Uvs, Bayan-Ulgii, and Zavkhan, while stomach cancer incidence was 20.33 per 100,000, particularly high in Uvs, Khovd, and Darkhan-Uul.
- The increasing rates of these cancers in some provinces show that Mongolian cancer incidences are notably higher than in other Asian countries, highlighting the need for a targeted prevention program
