Digestive organ cancers, particularly stomach, esophageal, and liver cancers, are a significant public health concern in Mongolia, with inadequate nationwide research on their incidence.
Between 2009 and 2018, research revealed an esophageal cancer incidence of 10.09 per 100,000, with highest rates in Uvs, Bayan-Ulgii, and Zavkhan, while stomach cancer incidence was 20.33 per 100,000, particularly high in Uvs, Khovd, and Darkhan-Uul.
The increasing rates of these cancers in some provinces show that Mongolian cancer incidences are notably higher than in other Asian countries, highlighting the need for a targeted prevention program
