We studied the mechanism of interaction of peripheral blood neutrophils with endothelial cells (expression of cell adhesion molecules and production of NO) and the role of neutrophil apoptosis in the development of endothelial dysfunction. The effects of mitochondrial dysfunction of neutrophils on the development of apoptosis of these cells after their interaction with endothelial cells were analyzed.

A method for identifying the group appurtenance of biological objects from subjects suffering from various diseases is developed. The method can be used in examination of putrefactive objects (blood, secretions, hair, etc.) and in cases when the group appurtenance cannot be identified by other methods.

Nitrosomethylbiuret appeared to be most effective inducer of auxotrophic mutations (mutation frequency reached 15%). By means of hybridological analysis, it was shown that heterokaryons predominated in the progeny of mixed cultures of multiply marked strains.

It was found that glucose added at the beginning or by the 48th hour of the fermentation process on the complex medium inhibited oleandomycin biosynthesis. To investigate the mechanism of the glucose effect, a fermentation medium was developed.

The correlation between the diagnosis by the criteria of the Minnesota code and the known indices of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) (RAVL greater than or equal to 7 mm, Rv5,6 + Sv1,2 greater than greater than 35 mm, Rv6 greater than Rv4 Sv2 greater than 24 mm) in 12 standard leads and the roentgenocardiometric data has been analyzed. 156 males (35-54 years of age) and 175 females (30-52 years of age) suffering from first and second stage of essential hypertension as well as 60 male and 30 female controls from the staff population of the Likhachev Plant have been studied. The study has shown that sensitivity of the above ECG criteria for LVH, diagnosed by roentgenocardiometry, is higher in males than in females, their specificity being higher in females.

Variant 0968 was obtained as a result of exposure of the spores of strain OL-1 to UV light. When grown under submerged conditions in flasks with the rich medium, the strains were characterized by a complete developmental cycle consisting of three generations of the hyphae.

Changes in the coronary arteries were encountered twice as frequently among patients with postinfarction cardiosclerosis as among patients with angina pectoris and no history of infarction. The main cause of disorders of myocardial contractility in patients with ischemic heart disease is post-infarction cardiosclerosis (56% of cases).
