is one of the most important plant-pathogenic fungi that causes disease on wheat and maize, as it decreases yield in both crops and produces mycotoxins that pose a risk to human and animal health. Resistance to Fusarium head blight (FHB) in wheat is well studied and documented. However, resistance to Gibberella ear rot (GER) in maize is less understood, despite several similarities with FHB.

Clinical utility is limited by lack of standardization between measurement procedures and interpretative recommendations. Our objective was to evaluate the analytical performance of a research sTfR immunoturbidimetric assay (Alinity c, Abbott Diagnostics) and compare it to three established measurement procedures.

Our objective was to evaluate estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) as derived from creatinine (eGFR), cystatin C (eGFR), and both (eGFR) in a cohort of transplant recipients.
Methods: A total of 47 unique post-solid organ transplant patients receiving tacrolimus were included.
Background: Surgical treatment of patients with proximal hamstring avulsions provides good results; however, less is known about the outcome in patients who are offered conservative treatment.
Purpose: To investigate the effect of surgical or conservative treatment (decided by a shared decision strategy) of proximal hamstring avulsions.
Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 2.
Purpose: To describe a new retinal phenotype characterized by bilateral, multifocal, subretinal vitelliform lesions along the vascular arcades that we refer to as multifocal vitelliform paravascular retinopathy (MVPR).
Design: Observational case series.
Methods: Multimodal retinal imaging including color fundus photography, fundus autofluorescence and cross sectional and en-face optical coherence tomography was performed to evaluate and characterize the lesions of MVPR.
Immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies that bind their cognate antigen in a pH-dependent manner (acid-switched antibodies) can release their bound antigen for degradation in the acidic environment of endosomes, while the IgGs are rescued by the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn). Thus, such IgGs can neutralize multiple antigens over time and therefore be used at lower doses than their non-pH-responsive counterparts. Here, we show that light-chain shuffling combined with phage display technology can be used to discover IgG1 antibodies with increased pH-dependent antigen binding properties, using the snake venom toxins, myotoxin II and α-cobratoxin, as examples.

While the emergence of gaze following has been thoroughly studied on a group level, we know little about (a) the developmental trajectory beyond infancy and (b) the sources of individual differences. In Study 1, we examined gaze following across the lifespan (N = 478 3- to 19-year-olds from Leipzig, Germany; and N = 240 20- to 80-year-old international, remotely tested adults).

Background And Objectives: Significant practice variation exists in managing young infants with fever. Quality improvement strategies can aid in risk stratification and standardization of best care practices, along with a reduction of unnecessary interventions. The aim of this initiative was to safely reduce unnecessary admissions, antibiotics, and lumbar punctures (LPs) by 10% in low-risk, febrile infants aged 29 to 90 days presenting to the emergency department (ED) over a 12-month period.

Adherence to current screening guidelines is hampered by complex protocols which rely on the knowledge of specific JIA characteristics. The Multinational Interdisciplinary Working Group for Uveitis in Childhood identified the need to simplify screening to enable local eye care professionals (ECPs), who carry the main burden, to screen children with JIA appropriately and with confidence.

The purpose of this study was to report the first Danish results of open surgical repair of GMM tears in female patients.
Methods: In this retrospective observational study, we included 67 women (68 hips) with a mean (95% confidence interval (CI)) age of 59 (56-61) years who underwent open GMM repair between September 2018 and June 2022.
Children all over the world learn language, yet the contexts in which they do so vary substantially. This variation needs to be systematically quantified to build robust and generalizable theories of language acquisition. We compared communicative interactions between parents and their 2-year-old children ( = 99 families) during mealtime across five cultural settings (Brazil, Ecuador, Argentina, Germany, and Japan) and coded the amount of talk and gestures as well as their conversational embedding (interlocutors, function, and themes).

Methods: Databases were searched September 2021 and updated September 2023. Randomized controlled trials (RCT) comparing exercise interventions for patients with GTPS, to a control condition; corticosteroid injection; shock wave therapy; or other types of exercise programs were included.
Protein structure determination is a critical aspect of biological research, enabling us to understand protein function and potential applications. Recent advances in deep learning and artificial intelligence have led to the development of several protein structure prediction tools, such as AlphaFold2 and ColabFold. However, their performance has primarily been evaluated on well-characterised proteins and their ability to predict sturtctures of proteins lacking experimental structures, such as many snake venom toxins, has been less scrutinised.

Methods: A total of 344 healthy pediatrics aged 3 days to 30 months old were recruited. Serum levels of ALT, AST, ALP, direct bilirubin, and total bilirubin were measured.
Background: Physiological changes during pregnancy invalidate use of general population reference intervals (RIs) for pregnant people. The complete blood count (CBC) is commonly ordered during pregnancy, but few studies have established pregnancy RIs suitable for contemporary Canadian mothers. Prospective RI studies are challenging to perform during pregnancy while retrospective techniques fall short as pregnancy and health status are not readily available in the laboratory information system (LIS).

This enables recycling antibodies to achieve comparable therapeutic effect at lower doses than their non-recycling counterparts. The development of such antibodies is typically achieved by histidine doping of their variable regions or by performing in vitro antibody selection campaigns utilizing histidine doped libraries.

Measuring eye movements remotely via the participant's webcam promises to be an attractive methodological addition to in-person eye-tracking in the lab. However, there is a lack of systematic research comparing remote web-based eye-tracking with in-lab eye-tracking in young children. We report a multi-lab study that compared these two measures in an anticipatory looking task with toddlers using WebGazer.

However, the degree of observed improvement is highly dependent on the genetic architecture of the trait. Breeders commonly use genetic markers to predict the performance of untested individuals as a way to improve the efficiency of breeding programs.
