Machine-learned potentials (MLPs) have exhibited remarkable accuracy, yet the lack of general-purpose MLPs for a broad spectrum of elements and their alloys limits their applicability. Here, we present a promising approach for constructing a unified general-purpose MLP for numerous elements, demonstrated through a model (UNEP-v1) for 16 elemental metals and their alloys. To achieve a complete representation of the chemical space, we show, via principal component analysis and diverse test datasets, that employing one-component and two-component systems suffices.

The contamination of Campylobacter in shellfish poses a health risk for its pathogenicity associated with campylobacteriosis. However, an efficient method to detect this risk is unavailable. Herein, we introduce a portable colorimetric biosensing platform that comprises three modules: an enrichment module 1, a binding and transduction module 2, and a smartphone-based module 3.

Fluorescence and photoacoustic (PA) imaging in the second near-infrared (NIR-II, 1000-1700 nm) window has garnered massive interest owing to high maximum permissible exposure of light, reduced autofluorescence, and improved deep penetration. However, active targeted NIR-II photoacoustic/NIR-IIa fluorescence imaging of glioma under NIR-II excitation has been seldom reported, which is partly ascribable to the lack of suitable materials. In this study, a small-molecule-based αβ-targeted NIR-II photoacoustic/NIR-IIa fluorescent probe was generated and subsequently evaluated in U87MG tumor-bearing mice excited with NIR-I and NIR-II light.

Land-sea atmosphere interaction (LSAI) is one of the important processes affecting ozone (O) pollution in coastal areas. The effects of small-scale LSAIs like sea-land breezes have been widely studied. However, it is not fully clear how and to what extent the large-scale LSAIs affect O pollution.

Understanding inbreeding depressions (IBDs), the effect on the phenotypic performance of inbreeding, is of major importance for evolution and conservation genetics. Inbreeding depressions in aquatic animals were well documented in a domestic or captive population, while there is less evidence of inbreeding depression in natural populations. Chinese shrimp, , is an important species in both aquaculture and fishery activities in China.

Objectives: This study aimed to analyse the existing evidence on the association between particulate matter 2.5 (PM) and dementia, including two of its subtypes, namely, Alzheimer's disease (AD) and vascular dementia (VaD).

Study Design: This was a systematic review and meta-analysis.

As important regions of transition between land and sea, the three bay areas of Bohai Bay (BHB), Hangzhou Bay (HZB), and Pearl River Estuary (PRE) in China often suffer from severe photochemical pollution despite scarce anthropogenic emissions. To understand the causes of high ozone (O) concentrations, the high O episode days associated with special synoptic systems in the three bays were identified via observations and simulated by the weather research and forecasting coupled with community multiscale air quality (WRF-CMAQ) model. It was revealed that the interaction between synoptic winds and mesoscale breezes resulted in slow wind speeds over the HZB and PRE, where air pollutants transported from upwind cities gained a long residence time and subsequently participated in intensive photochemical reactions.

With the high production and consumption of antibiotics in recent years due to increasing economic development and improving population health, China is facing serious antibiotic pollution in the environment, and it is becoming a significant threat to ecology and human health. This study explores the spatial distribution patterns of 65 antibiotics in soil, surface water and coastal water based on a systematic review. Potential emission sources of antibiotics are also analyzed using data extracted from the reviewed literature.

To understand the levels of Pb, Cd, As, Hg, Mn, and Se in maternal and umbilical cord blood, and to explore the transplacental transfer efficiency (TTE). From September 2010 to December 2013, a total of 773 pregnant women and their newborns (Laizhou Bay Birth Cohort) were recruited from a second grade hospital in the south bank of Laizhou Bay, Bohai, Shandong Province. According to different detection methods, the six measured elements are classified into three groups including the Hg measurement group (595 mother-newborn pairs), the Pb measurement group (534 mother-newborn pairs), and the Cd, As, Mn and Se measurement group (244 mother-newborn pairs).

Acute gastroenteritis caused by pathogenic Vibrio parahaemolyticus is one of the major factors affecting the development of aquaculture and the safety of seafood. Using the antagonism of probiotics against pathogens is an alternative strategy to antibiotics and a common trend to control food-borne pathogenic bacteria. In this study, a total of 249 isolates were isolated from four types of seafood (Litopenaeus vannamei, Oratosquilla oratoria, Mactra veneriformis and Portunus trituberculatus) and coastal sediment from Liaodong Bay in the Bohai Sea, China with five different separation agars.
