Article Synopsis
  • Several studies suggest that bisphosphonates may help children with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), but this specific study aimed to confirm the efficacy of a certain treatment protocol.
  • The study involved a trial with 6 children aged 22 months to 14 years who received intravenous pamidronate therapy over a minimum of 2 years, measuring outcomes like bone mineral density (BMD), fracture rates, and mobility.
  • The results showed significant improvements in BMD and mobility, but no clear link to fracture rate reduction, suggesting that this treatment could be beneficial, although more long-term research is necessary.
