Background: The aim of this study was to examine the phonological functioning (reading speed and accuracy) of hospital patients under general anaesthesia administered during colonoscopy.
Methods: In this study the 'Łatysz' non-word reading test was used to measure the impact of selected anaesthetics on the phonological aspect of language processing (defined as decoding without referring to the meaning) in a group of 22 anaesthetised patients compared to 23 non-anaesthetised patients from university clinics.
Results: Compared to the preoperative performance, a decrease in reading accuracy and reading speed was observed only in the Anaesthesia Group - AG (in the subjects aged ≥ 35 years) 1.
The present study was aimed at analysing cognitive deficits of dyslexic adults, and examining their written language skills in comparison with their peers. Case Report: The patient, E.Z.
Aim: The clinical evaluation of Activelle formula in treatment of climacteric symptoms in postmenopausal women.
Material And Methods: Formula Activelle (oral 1 mg 17 beta-estradiol combined with 0.5 mg norethisterone acetate) was applied daily in 100 post-menopausal women during 3 months.
Persistent infection of the portal vein is a rare entity with significant mortality. We present two cases of infected thombis of the portal vein, one infected with fungus and the other with bacteria, both requiring percutaneous drainage to allow a response to antibiotics. The distinction between bland thrombis, infected thrombis, portal venous air, and pneumobilia will be discussed so that suppurative pylephlebitis can be recognized more easily as drain placement appears to affect a more prompt degree of improvement than antibiotics alone.

A case of the coexistence of the endometrioid ovary carcinoma and frank cervical carcinoma was shown. The diagnostic procedure, surgery and complementary therapy were described. On the basis of the follow-up of the patient it seams that the coexistence of these carcinomas neither accelerate the development of disease nor make worse the prognosis.
