Background And Aims: Cadherins are adhesion proteins, and their dysregulation may result in the development of atherosclerosis, plaque rupture, or lesions of the vascular wall. The aim of the present study was to detect the associations of cadherins-P, -E, and -H, with atherosclerosis and pathological cardiovascular conditions.
Methods And Results: The present study with 3-year follow up evaluated atherosclerosis and fasting levels of P-, E-, and H-cadherins in the serum samples of 214 patients in a hospital setting.
Background: The 313-variant polygenic risk score (PRS) provides a promising tool for clinical breast cancer risk prediction. However, evaluation of the PRS across different European populations which could influence risk estimation has not been performed.
Methods: We explored the distribution of PRS across European populations using genotype data from 94,072 females without breast cancer diagnosis, of European-ancestry from 21 countries participating in the Breast Cancer Association Consortium (BCAC) and 223,316 females without breast cancer diagnosis from the UK Biobank.
: Placental cadherin (CDH3) is an adhesion molecule expressed in many malignant tumors. The role of serum CDH3 in atherosclerosis is unclear. : This 3-year follow-up study measured atherosclerosis and serum CDH3 in 218 angiography inpatients.

Ionizing radiation (IR) in high doses is generally lethal to most organisms. Investigating mechanisms of radiation resistance is crucial for gaining insights into the underlying cellular responses and understanding the damaging effects of IR. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of sequencing data from an evolutionary experiment aimed at understanding the genetic adaptations to ionizing radiation in .

In this study, we measured the levels of motor and exploratory activity in rats at the ages of 2 and 5 months. Male and female rats were mated at the age of 5 months.

The mechanisms of AF recurrence after catheter ablation are unknown, and the present study aimed to identify serum proteins associated with AF recurrence. The present prospective study comprised a cohort of patients with AF, which was divided into two groups after one-year follow-up: group 1 included patients with compensated AF after catheter ablation and group 2 included patients with AF recurrence after catheter ablation.

We identified five histotype-specific EOC risk regions (p value <5 × 10) and confirmed previously reported associations for 27 risk regions. Conditional analyses identified an additional 11 signals independent of the primary signal at six risk regions (p value <10).

Several fractionation schedules have been explored that developed over the past decades to increasingly more hypofractionated treatments.

We used data from the Ovarian Cancer Association Consortium (OCAC), Consortium of Investigators of Modifiers of (CIMBA), UK Biobank (UKBB), and FinnGen to identify novel HGSOC susceptibility loci and develop polygenic scores (PGS).
Methods: We analyzed >22 million variants for 398,238 women.

Phosphatidylcholine (PC) liposomes were used to encapsulate a combination of hydrophobic and hydrophilic nutraceuticals. The hydrophobic constituents were long-chain (LC) n-3 PUFAs (DHA and EPA) from fish oil (FO), vitamin D3, and clove essential oil (CEO), while the hydrophilic component was γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA).

Administration of caffeine in the prenatal and early postnatal periods led to the development of anxiolytic, stimulating, and analgesic effects. Administration of aminoguanidine attenuated the anxiolytic and stimulating effects and potentiated the analgesic effect of perinatal administration of caffeine.

Methods: This study included 321 serum specimens, gathered in different case-control studies to test for atherosclerosis and atrial fibrillation. Among them, 48 serum specimens were analyzed using microarray technology.
Background: The manifestations, severity, and mortality of COVID-19 are considered to be associated with the changes in various hematological parameters and in immunity. Associations of immunoglobulin G antibodies against severe acute respiratory syndrome-linked coronavirus (IgG-SARS)-positive status with cardiac function and hematological and biochemical parameters in apparently health subjects are poorly understood.
Methods: The present cross-sectional study included 307 healthy volunteers (24-69 years of age; 44.
Pubertal timing varies considerably and has been associated with a range of health outcomes in later life. To elucidate the underlying biological mechanisms, we performed multi-ancestry genetic analyses in ~800,000 women, identifying 1,080 independent signals associated with age at menarche. Collectively these loci explained 11% of the trait variance in an independent sample, with women at the top and bottom 1% of polygenic risk exhibiting a ~11 and ~14-fold higher risk of delayed and precocious pubertal development, respectively.
