Introduction: The growing number of people diagnosed with a cancer of working age prompts us to explore the sustainability of their working conditions and avenues of intervention in their work situations to promote sustainable job retention in a context of work intensification.

Methods: Narrative review of the literature on people diagnosed with a cancer, their work situation, participation in the labour market, return to work (RTW) and sustainable employment.

Results: Transformations in the world of work are increasing the unpredictability and variability of work situations, making strategies for managing functional deficiencies after diagnosis of the disease more complex.

The present case reports a bacteremia due to Lachnoanaerobaculum umeaense (a Gram-positive, filamentous, rod-shaped, anaerobic, spore-forming bacillus present in the human oral microbiota) in a patient treated for acute myeloid leukemia. After failed identification by MALDI-TOF, identification was done by sequencing of 16s rRNA. The patient was successfully treated with Amoxicillin-clavulanic acid and ciprofloxacin for seven days.

A bio-responsive nanoparticle was formed by the directed self-assembly (DSA) of a hydrophobic NIR-fluorophore with poloxamer P. Fluorophore emission was switched off when part of the nanoparticle, however upon stimulus induced nanoparticle dis-assembly the emission switched on. The emission quenching was shown to be due to fluorophore hydration and aggregation within the nanoparticle and the turn on response attributable to nanoparticle disassembly with embedding of the fluorophore within lipophilic environments.

We have designed a new Bodipy scaffold for efficient photoacoustic (PA) imaging of nanoparticles commonly used as drug nanovectors. The new dye has an optimized absorption band in the near-infrared window in biological tissue and a low fluorescence quantum yield that leads to a good photoacoustic generation efficiency. After Bodipy-initiated ring-opening polymerization of lactide, the polylactide-Bodipy was formulated into PEGylated nanoparticles (NPs) by mixing with PLA-PEG at different concentrations.

Exposure to Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) has been linked to multiple undesirable health outcomes across a full lifespan, both in animal models as well as in human epidemiological studies. Immunosuppressive effects of PFAS have been reported, including increased risk of infections and suppressed vaccination responses in early childhood, as well as association with immunotoxicity and diabetes. On a mechanistic level, PFAS exposure has been linked with metabolic disturbances, particularly in lipid metabolism, but the underlying mechanisms are poorly characterized.
