Emotion Regulation Assessment: A New Perspective Using Simultaneous Electroencephalographic and Electrodermal Recordings.

Recognized as a transdiagnostic factor, emotion regulation (ER) is increasingly embedded into conceptualizations of psychopathology development and maintenance, emerging as a core component of treatment methodologies. Therefore, the incorporation of ER into various facets of affective sciences, including theoretical frameworks, experimental paradigms, assessment methods, and intervention strategies, raises new challenges, particularly regarding the measurement of ER. In the evaluation and understanding of complex, multifaceted processes like ER, the combination of different assessment methods encompassing diverse units of analysis across multiple domains encompassing cerebral, physiological, and behavioral measures can prove particularly interesting.

The duration discrimination respiratory task: A new test to measure respiratory interoceptive accuracy.

Interoception, which refers to the perception of body's internal state, is implicated in emotional processes and psychopathological disorders. Over the last decades, different tools have been developed to measure interoceptive accuracy, or the ability to accurately perceive physiological signals. Most of these tools have focused on cardiac interoception, but respiratory interoception has been less investigated due to the more complex and less portable equipment required.

The role of semantic assessment in the differential diagnosis between late-life depression and Alzheimer's disease or amnestic mild cognitive impairment: systematic review and meta-analysis.

Object: The cognitive complaints encountered in late-life depression (LLD) make it difficult to distinguish from amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) based on an analysis of neurocognitive disorders. The hypothesis of the early impairment of semantic memory in AD and aMCI is considered a potential differential cognitive clue, but the absence of this impairment has not yet been confirmed in  LLD.

Method: Based on the PRISMA method, we systematically seek neuropsychological assessments of individuals with LLD, the present study included 31 studies representing 3291 controls and 2820 people with LLD.

Unlabelled: Numerous studies have shown that alterations in physiological reactivity (PR) after traumatic brain injury (TBI) are possibly associated with emotional deficits. We conducted a systematic review of these studies that evaluated PR in adults with moderate-to-severe TBI, either at rest or in response to emotional, stressful, or social stimuli. We focused on the most common measures of physiological response, including heart rate (HR), heart rate variability (HRV), respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA), electrodermal activity (EDA), salivary cortisol, facial electromyography (EMG), and blink reflex.

Emerging evidence suggests that emotion and affect modulate the relation between sleep and cognition. In the present study, we investigated the role of rapid-eye movement (REM) sleep in mood regulation and memory consolidation for sad stories. In a counterbalanced design, participants (n = 24) listened to either a neutral or a sad story during two sessions, spaced one week apart.

Bilateral Pretibial Varices with Intraosseous Venous Drainage Anomaly: A Case Report.

We report the case of a 35-year-old male patient who complained of right anteromedial leg pain, after an intensive sport exercise. At physical examination, internal pretibial soft tissue swelling containing prominent painful varices was found. Color Doppler ultrasound, radiographic examinations, followed by CT and MR complementary investigation, were performed.

Soft tissue chondroma of Hoffa's fat pad.

We report mutimodal imaging findings of an extraskeletal chondroma of the Hoffa's fat pad. Plain radiographic or CT scan studies demonstrate a large soft tissue mass with calcifications and central ossification, characteristic features of these tumors. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging shows heterogeneous signal due to polymorphic histopathological appearance.

Retrodural cysts bridging a bilateral lumbar spondylolysis: a report of two symptomatic cases.

We report the MR features in two patients presenting with symptomatic thecal impingement by posterior epidural cysts linking a bilateral lumbar spondylolysis. Large fluid-filled channels bridging the ruptured partes interarticulares were present in spite of the absence of significant arthritic changes within the adjacent facet joints.

The authors report a compressive cystic lesion of the central lumbar retrodural space, which was related to a bilateral L5 spondylolysis. Correlation is made with the contralateral opacification of the facet joints sometimes observed during contrast injection of these joints. Pathways and possible causes are discussed.

[Systemic approach to families dealing with cancer diagnosis, its treatment and its prognosis].

This paper reviews and comments the literature related to the problems families have to deal with when cancer occurs, in a psychological and relational perspective. It addresses, among other topics, communication problems and the specific aspects of the different evolutional phases of the disease, and the subsystems of the family. Considering the dramatic effects of cancer within the family and the interdependency of the patient and his family in their adjustment to the disease, we propose that psychological evaluation and support should be offered to the family system as a whole.

[Osteochondroma of the clavicle and pain syndrome of the shoulder. Apropos of a case. Review of the literature].

Introduction: Osteochondroma, a frequent benign tumor of the bone, is in most cases asymptomatic. Localization in the clavicle is extremely rare. The authors report an isolated case occurring in the coraco-clavicular area responsible for a painful shoulder syndrome evoking rotator cuff tendinitis.
