The effects of intravenous acetylsalicylic acid (1.0 g bolus) on renal function and prostaglandin synthesis were evaluated in a prospective, controlled study in eight patients in an intensive care unit. Four of these patients had congestive heart failure.

The site is expressed spontaneously at levels of 9% in lymphocytes, 2% in lymphoblasts, and 6% in skin fibroblasts. Expression frequency is significantly enhanced to levels as high as 100% by addition of BrdU to the culture medium.

Experiments in vitro revealed this to be an artefact associated with Coulter determination.

A card is introduced, which in addition to essential anamnestic data permits registration of entry of diseases, side effects, smoking habits, additional drug intake and results of examinations during steroid medication. The card to be presented whenever a physician is consulted is intended to convey better pill-taking information to other specialists, while also ensuring follow-up of such patients.

The crude protein and lysine digestibility values available in literature and ascertained in comparative investigations at the end of the small intestine (distal ileum) and in the complete digestive tract (faeces analysis method) of pigs were subjected to a correlation calculation in order to find out whether and to what degree there are relations between apparent 'ileal' and apparent 'faecal' digestibility. For both crude protein and lysine the relation between ileal and faecal digestibility is so close (r = 0.73 resp.

Eleven clones isolated from a human genomic DNA library were characterized extensively by restriction mapping, Southern blotting, and nucleotide sequencing.

Nucleosome cores were prepared from rat liver nuclei with micrococcal nuclease, exonuclease III and nucleases S1. From the total population of core DNA fragments the satellite-containing fragments were isolated by molecular cloning and the complete sequence of 50 clones was determined.

A cDNA coding for human argininosuccinate synthetase was used to screen a human genomic library. Twenty-five unique genomic clones were isolated and extensively characterized.

The sequence covered 1623 nucleotides including 76 bases of poly(A) and contained a 1236 nucleotide open reading frame encoding a protein of 46,434 daltons. In one cDNA isolate, a cloning artifact or perhaps RNA polymerase error involving addition of an A in a region of six A's within the coding sequence was documented.

The total meat quota is 54% and remains relatively equal independent of the live weight. The N-quotas (in % of the empty body-N) of muscle and fat tissue and of the skin increase in the course of fattening, those of bones, useable organs and offal decrease distinctly.

The amount of feed was daily increased by 1.
