[Errors in the diagnosis and treatment of infection].

The authors made an analysis of their experience with treatment of sepsis in a specialized center. Typical errors in treatment of the disease in the general public health service are: insufficient sanitation of septic foci, inadequate antibacterial therapy. Not all main possibilities of complex therapy are always used.

[Schizophrenia syndromes caused by infection].

Out of 908 patients with sepsis treated at the Republican Antisepsis Center, 19 presented with different schizophrenia syndromes (2 with acute delirium, 3 with encephalic manifestations, 3 with the amentive-catatonic form, the remainder with the amentive-depressive form). In 6 patients, psychic disorders preceded fever, in 3 patients, both conditions occurred simultaneously, and 9 developed psychosis in the presence of fever. In all the patients, with the exception of one, the diagnosis of sepsis was supported by repeated isolation of hecocultures of S.

[Interhemispheric integration and role of the midbrain in its achievement].

In addition to two previously discovered midbrain systems of connections between forebrain hemispheres, surgical, electrophysiological and conditioned analysis revealed in cats another system of midbrain connections mediating interhemispheric interrelations. It represents functional projections of the anterior colliculus to the contralateral posterothalamic nuclear complex via the reticular formation or/and via the reticular formation and the contralateral anterior colliculus. By its structural organization this system occupies an intermediate position as compared to the described two systems because it involves the same structures.
