Behcet's disease (BD) is characterized by recurrent oral ulcers with concomitant systemic multi-organ involvement, which may include neurological disease, ocular disease, vascular disease, genital ulcers, skin lesions, and arthritis. The clinical symptoms arise from vasculitis that involves small, medium, and large blood vessels. We present the case of a young male who presented with atypical Behcet's autoimmune encephalitis with recurrent oral ulcers, neurological manifestations, HLA-B51 positivity, abnormal EEG findings, and improvement following multiple plasma exchange treatments.

One-half of patients with newly diagnosed pancreatic cancer will have metastatic disease at the time of diagnosis, mainly due to its non-specific initial clinical presentation which includes abdominal pain, dyspepsia, weight loss, bowel habit changes, jaundice and pruritus. The signs, symptoms and stage of the disease at initial diagnosis depends on the origin of the primary tumor, with tumors of the head presenting earlier with obstructive symptoms while tumors of the body/tail are often diagnosed at an advanced stage due to their non-specific presentation. The most common sites of metastasis are the lymph nodes, liver, lung, and peritoneum.

Methods: E and progesterone concentrations were measured using Elecsys Gen III and Gen II immunoassays, and progesterone concentrations on the day of ovulation triggering were determined by LC-MS/MS. This was a retrospective, non-interventional study conducted at European tertiary referral infertility clinics in women aged 18-45 years, with a body mass index 18-35 kg/m, regular menses, and both ovaries.

Purpose: Parathyroid hormone (PTH) concentrations are routinely measured in the diagnosis and management of bone and kidney diseases, but reference ranges can be overestimated if determined in otherwise healthy individuals for whom vitamin D deficiency was not evaluated. A recurrent criticism concerning the use of online social media data in political science research is the lack of demographic information about social media users. By employing a face-recognition algorithm to the profile pictures of Facebook users, the paper derives two fundamental demographic characteristics (age and gender) of a sample of Facebook users who interacted with the most relevant British parties in the two weeks before the Brexit referendum of 23 June 2016. The article achieves the goals of (i) testing the precision of the algorithm, (ii) testing its validity, (iii) inferring new evidence on digital mobilisation, and (iv) tracing the path for future developments and application of the algorithm.

In cationic nine-coordinate chiral terbium and europium complexes incorporating exciton-coupled naphthyl groups and a tetraazatriphenylene sensitising chromophore, efficient intramolecular energy transfer occurs leading to population of the naphthyl triplet state. With the terbium complex, the absolute quantum yield of singlet oxygen formation is 51% (lambda(exc) 355 nm), and for the Eu complex the intensity of metal-based emission increases by up to 350% on binding to poly(dGdC) or calf-thymus DNA, and was greater for the delta-isomer.

Nonacoordinate delta- and lambda-Eu and Tb complexes have been tested as imaging and reactive probes in mouse fibroblast (NIH 3T3) cells. The uptake of these complexes by the cells was assessed by fluorescence microscopy. Complex-induced DNA damage was studied by gel electrophoresis and shown to be a function of complex chirality.

The (1)H and (17)O NMR relaxometric properties of two cationic complexes formed by Gd(III) with a macrocyclic heptadentate triamide ligand, L(1), and its Nmethylated analogue, L(2), have been investigated in aqueous media as a function of pH, temperature and magnetic field strength. The complexes possess two water molecules in their inner coordination sphere for which the rate of exchange has been found to be sensibly faster for the Nmethylated derivative and explained in terms of electronic effects (decrease of the charge density at the metal center) and perturbation of the network of hydrogen-bonded water molecules in the outer hydration sphere. The proton relaxivity shows a marked dependence from pH and decreases of about six units in the pH range 6.
