Introduction: In the context of health research in Canada, various terms and labels have been employed to reference the Black population. This practice has had the unintended consequence of diminishing the comparability and efficiency of studies. Furthermore, using a broad term such as 'Black' may fail to encompass the diversity and intricacy of the ethnocultural backgrounds of people who are racialised as such.

Background: While GBMSM constitute less than 2% of Ghana's population, their HIV prevalence surpasses the national average by more than eightfold, emphasizing the critical need for targeted interventions to improve detection, care linkage, and reduce community transmission. This study seeks to increase HIV testing, Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), and Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) uptake (HPART) among YGBMSM through the adaptation of an evidence-based intervention (LAFIYA).

Methodology: We will employ the ADAPTT-IT framework to adapt LAFIYA and evaluate its feasibility and effectiveness in addressing intersectional stigma and increasing HPART uptake among YGBMSM residing in Ghanaian slums.

Recently, there has been a growing interest in using sustainable energy to decrease lignin monomers to generate high-value-added products. Here, we present a protocol for electrocatalytic hydrogenation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural. We describe steps for catalyst preparation, performing electrocatalytic experiments, high-performance liquid chromatography analysis, and in situ infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopy testing.

Vegan diet has emerged as a popular dietary choice for people worldwide in recent times, due to concerns such as health issues, animal rights and welfare, and the sustainability of the environment. The purpose of this literature review was to explain how a vegan diet may affect the health of adults and to point out beneficial components found in it as well as any difficulties associated with its implementation. Evidence supports that a vegan diet can reduce the risk of chronic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and certain types of cancer.

Spinal arteriovenous malformations are rare vascular anomalies within the paediatric age group. These anomalies are associated with devastating consequences and require prompt management to prevent the long-term neurological sequelae. We report a case of a 10-year-old boy with tetraparesis secondary to spinal arterio- venous malformation type III (Juvenile AVM) with rapidly deteriorating neurological signs who had to be managed conservatively due to lack of advanced neurosurgical facilities and interventional radiological services in our facility and sub region.

Introduction: In Ghana, men who have sex with men (MSM) are estimated to be 11 times more likely to be living with HIV than the general population. Stigmas at the intersection of HIV, same-sex and gender non-conformity are potential key drivers behind this outsized HIV disease burden. Healthcare workers (HCWs) are essential to HIV prevention, care and treatment and can also be sources of stigma for people living with HIV and MSM.

MSM in Ghana encounter challenges in accessing HIV services and may experience barriers to HIV self-testing due to multiple forms of stigma present in health care settings. We worked with community-based organization partners to implement three interventions that successfully engaged and retained MSM which provides an opportunity for linkage to self-testing and medical care. These interventions were (1) Many Men Many Voices (3MV) a locally-led culturally grounded group-level HIV prevention program, (2) Auntie's Corner: a mobile-app based connecting MSM to health monitoring by a registered nurse and (3) HIV Education, Empathy, & Empowerment (HIVE3): a mobile-app based peer support intervention for MSM living with HIV.

In Ghana, the HIV prevalence among MSM is more than 10 times greater than the general population of adults, and rates of engagement in HIV medical care are low among MSM diagnosed with HIV. Using structured surveys, we investigated the impact of HIV-related stigma, same-sex behavior stigma, and gender nonconformity stigma on linkage to HIV care (LTC) in MSM ( = 225) living with HIV in Ghana. Autonomy-supportive healthcare climate ( = 1.

This study examined the feasibility and acceptability of an evidence-based HIV prevention programme for men who have sex with men (MSM) in Ghana through a participatory approach. The programme involved 57 self-identified adult cisgender MSM and led by a community-based organisation in collaboration with local nurses. We used an explanatory mixed-method design to evaluate the programme.

In Ghana, men who have sex with men (MSM) bear a high burden of HIV. Identifying factors that influence engagement in HIV care among HIV-infected Ghanaian MSM is critical to devising novel interventions and strengthening existing programs aimed at improving outcomes across the HIV care continuum. Consequently, we conducted an exploratory qualitative research study with 30 HIV-infected Ghanaian MSM between May 2015 and July 2015.
