Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common malignancies. An early diagnosis and an accurate prognosis are major focuses of CRC research. Tumor microenvironment cells and the extent of infiltrating immune and stromal cells contribute significantly to the tumor prognosis.

The selenoprotein S () gene has been suggested to be an important factor in the development of multiple diseases, including gastric cancer (GC) and colorectal cancer (CRC). However, the association between the gene rs34713741 polymorphism and risk of GC and CRC is inconclusive. Thus, we aimed to investigate the relationship between this polymorphism and the susceptibility to GC and CRC through a meta-analysis.

Objective: Polymorphisms in the tumor necrosis factor superfamily 15 () gene contribute to susceptibility to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). However, associations between rs6478109, rs7869487, and rs7865494 polymorphisms and IBD remain unclear.

Methods: Eligible articles were retrieved from the PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and CNKI databases through 20 March 2020.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the genetic relationship between two IL23R polymorphisms (rs11209026 and rs10889677) and the risk of inflammatory bowel diseases, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, through a meta-analysis of existing literature.
  • It analyzes data from 41 studies involving over 13,000 patients with Crohn's disease and approximately 5,800 patients with ulcerative colitis, finding that certain genetic models significantly affect disease risk based on ethnicity.
  • The results indicate that the rs11209026 polymorphism is generally associated with a decreased risk for both diseases, particularly in Caucasians, while the rs10889677 polymorphism appears to increase risks for both diseases, with results varying

Background: Colorectal cancer was a complex disease with multiple causative factors including genetic and environmental factors, as well as the interaction of the 2 factors. Relationship between epidermal growth factor (EGF) A61G polymorphism and colorectal cancer risk has been widely investigated previously, whereas results derived from these studies were inconclusive and controversial. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between the EGF A61G polymorphism and colorectal cancer using a meta-analysis of existing literature.

Introduction: Essential thrombocythemia/thrombocytosis (ET) is characterized by increased bleeding and thrombosis risk during the perioperative period. We report the case of a woman with ET and sigmoid colon cancer, in whom the postoperative course was complicated by anastomotic bleeding. A systematic review was conducted to seek guidance for the management of such patient in the perioperative period.

Purpose: To investigate the expression of Ki67 protein in papillary thyroid microcarcinoma(PTMC), and to analyze its clinical significance.

Materials And Methods: Ki67 protein expression was evaluated in the tissues of 108 human PTMC and 50 other benign papillary hyperplasia of thyroid specimens using immunohistochemistry.

Results: The expression intensity of Ki67 in PTMC and benign papillary hyperplasia of thyroid specimens were 1.

Objective: To determine the value of medical adhesive products for decreasing abdominal effusion after clearing up lymph nodes in patients with gastric cancer.

Methods: Seventy patients with gastric cancer and undergoing D(2 ) or D(2 )(+) radical excision were randomly divided into group A and B based on envelope method from June 2002 to December 2003. In group A (n=35),medical adhesive products was dripped on the retroperitoneal regions where perigastric lymph nodes were cleared up, while not in group B(n=35).
