Physical vapor deposition (PVD) at an appropriate temperature has been shown to produce ultrastable glass by the mechanism of surface accelerated diffusion. Recently, high-entropy materials have been discovered to display slower atomic diffusion due to the multicomponent high-entropy effects. How this delayed atomic motion influences the formation and stability of PVD glass remains elusive.

Article Synopsis
  • Laying hens, particularly egg-type chicks, are at risk of heart issues due to dietary selenium (Se) insufficiency, which has been shown to affect cardiac health in broiler chickens.
  • In this study, White Leghorn chicks were fed diets either lacking in Se or supplemented with it, revealing significant differences in heart health and body weight, with Se-deficient chicks showing signs of cardiac inflammation and reduced selenoprotein expression.
  • The research indicates that a lack of selenium leads to increased inflammatory markers and oxidative stress in the hearts of these chicks, highlighting the critical role of Se in maintaining cardiac health early in life.

This paper presents a flexible wetness sensor whose detection signal, converted to a binary code, is transmitted through radio-frequency (RF) waves from a radio-frequency identification integrated circuit (RFID IC) to a remote reader. The flexible sensor, with a fixed operating frequency of 13.56 MHz, contains a RFID IC and a sensor circuit that is fabricated on a flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) using a Micro-Electro-Mechanical-System (MEMS) process.
