Algal toxin is a unique type of toxin generated with harmful algal blooms in water bodies. This phenomenon is worsened by eutrophication caused by excessive discharge of nutrients into surface water bodies. Since algal toxins are hard to remove after they enter the water treatment processes, an efficient method is required to inhibit the growth of algal cells, to settle the cells at the bottom of the water body and to removes the toxin from the water.
