Polyimide-based triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) capable of energy harvesting in harsh environments (high temperature and high humidity) have been extensively studied. However, most polyimide-based TENGs have the disadvantages of poor air permeability and poor softness. In this study, a core-shell yarn with good air permeability, softness, and high electric output performance was successfully prepared by conjugate electrospinning.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases are among the most common and clinically significant comorbidities of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Exercise has been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, and high-intensity inspiratory muscle training (H-IMT) has emerged as a promising intervention for improving arterial stiffness in individuals with COPD. Yet, there is limited evidence from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) regarding the impact of H-IMT alone or in combination with exercise on reducing arterial stiffness in COPD.

Background: IFN-γ is crucial in induction of inducible cell-autonomous immunity, and IFN-γ signaling pathway is activated in pulpitis. Guanylate-binding proteins (GBPs) are a family of IFN-inducible GTPases and could utilize autophagy or pyroptosis to mitigate infection. GBP5 is abundantly expressed in inflamed pulp and human dental pulp cells (HDPCs).

Background: In the traditional computed tomography (CT) simulation process, patients need to undergo CT scans before and after injection of iodine-based contrast agent, resulting in a cumbersome workflow and additional imaging dose. Contrast-enhanced spectral CT can synthesize true contrast-enhanced (TCE) images and virtual noncontrast (VNC) images in a single scan without geometric misalignment. To improve work efficiency and reduce patients' imaging dose, we studied the feasibility of using VNC images for radiotherapy treatment planning, with true noncontrast (TNC) images as references and explored its dosimetric advantages compared to using TCE images.

The cross-entropy loss function is widely used in machine learning to measure the performance of a classification model. Interestingly, our study find that this function has scaling behavior when deep neural networks are used to investigate percolation models. Specifically, we use convolutional neural networks with different pooling methods to study the site percolation on square lattices under two labeling methods (labeling based on spanning cluster and the exact solution of the critical point).

A refined synthesis of 1,4,2-diazaphospholidine-3,5-dione derivatives was achieved through a cyclization reaction involving Na(OCP) and isocyanates. Na(OCP) was demonstrated to be a relatively stable and safe source of phosphorus, enabling the production of diverse 1,4,2-diazaphospholidine-3,5-dione derivatives with high yields. The reaction proceeds efficiently under catalyst-free and mild conditions.

Background: Anterior odontoid screw fixation is considered to be preferred surgical treatment for the type Ⅱ odontoid fractures. However, due to the high difficulty to insert odontoid screw with barehand, the high risk of screw misalignment and damage to surrounding important tissue structures, we urgently need robot-assisted screw insert navigation technology to improve the safety and accuracy of inserting odontoid screws.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 7 patients with type II odontoid fractures who underwent Tinavi robot-assisted screw insert technology from May 2018 to May 2019 at our hospital.

Aortic malperfusion occurs in a significant percentage of patients with acute aortic dissection, and causes malperfusion syndrome, the clinical entity defined by end organ ischemia, in 10-33% of patients. Malperfusion syndrome can be rapidly lethal and can involve the coronary, cerebral, visceral, or lower extremity vessels. Depending on presentation, it may be appropriately and well treated with endovascular fenestration prior to definitive central aortic repair.

The disruption of the visual cycle leads to the accumulation of all-trans-retinal (atRAL) in the retina, a hallmark of autosomal recessive Stargardt disease (STGD1) and dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD), both of which cause retinal degeneration. Although our previous studies have shown that atRAL induces ferroptosis and activates c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) signaling in the retina, the relationship between JNK signaling and ferroptosis in atRAL-mediated photoreceptor damage remains unclear. Here, we reported that JNK activation by atRAL drove photoreceptor ferroptosis through ferritinophagy.

Article Synopsis
  • * A FePt film was deposited on a Pb(MgNb)TiO (PMN-PT) substrate to create a heterojunction that allows for adjustable nonvolatile lattice strain through electric field manipulation.
  • * Experiments showed that increasing tensile strain (up to 3000 ppm) significantly improved HER performance, while density functional theory suggested that optimal strain conditions lead to a more favorable Gibbs free energy, enhancing catalysis efficiency.
