Background: Idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (iMCD) is characterized by constitutional symptoms, enlarged lymph nodes and laboratory test abnormalities, which are primarily related to the overproduction of interleukin-6 (IL-6). This form (iMCD) was treated earlier with cytostatics used for lymphoma, later with bio-logic therapy as rituximab, immunodulatory drugs and proteasome inhibitors, and in the last years with an anti-IL-6 antibody, siltuximab. Siltuximab is a human-mouse chimeric immunoglobulin G1k monoclonal antibody against human IL-6 approved in the European Union for the treatment of iMCD.

Idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis (IRF) is a rare condition characterized by the development of a peri-aortic and peri-iliac tissue showing chronic inflammatory infiltrates and pronounced fibrosis. Ureteral entrapment with consequent obstructive uropathy is one of the most common complications, which can lead to acute renal failure and, in the long term, to varying degrees of chronic kidney disease. Common symptoms at onset include lower back, abdominal or flank pain, and constitutional symptoms such as malaise, fever, and anorexia and weight loss.

We performed real world evidence (RWE) analysis of daratumumab, lenalidomide and dexamethasone (Dara-Rd) versus lenalidomide and dexamethasone (Rd) treatment in relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma patients (RRMM). Necrobiotic xanthogranuloma (NXG) is a rare chronic condition, belonging to the group non-Langerhans cell histiocytoses, which is relevant due to the possibility of extracutaneous involvement and association with systemic diseases, particularly monoclonal gammopathy, MGUS and multiple myeloma. The case reported here NXG was diagnosed after 1 years of evolution in patient with asymptomatic multiple myeloma. After treatment with bortezomib, lenalidomid and dexamethasone, there was evident abrupt decrease of monoclonal immunoglobulin to not measurable level (complete remission of multiple myeloma) and in the same time was evident disappearance of cutaneous and hepatic lesions of NXG on FDG-PET/CT.

Prolonged incubation with 25 microM homocysteine acid led to initial suppression of the synaptic transmission, which in 6 out of 12 cases was followed by the restoration of the population spike to values 63% from the control. In the rest of experiments, a transient decrease of the population spike amplitude was observed during wash-out of homocysteine acid. Such a pattern suggests that synaptic transmission has special mechanisms for adaptation to increasing concentrations of the excitatory amino acids which are potentially damaging.

For the purpose to select tests for diagnosis of latent disturbances of visual functions, dynamic observation was conducted over 88 healthy school children within 5 years (from the 3d to the 8th form). Once a year, the children underwent examination of visual acuity for far and near, the state of binocular vision on a synoptophore and a color test, the volume of relative and absolute accommodation, muscular balance of eyes for far and near, contrast sensibility, the time of perception of the negative successive contrast, refraction. For the period of 5 years, 7 children developed myopia of low degree, 32 showed transitory or lasting reduction of visual acuity due to spasm of accommodation.
