Objectives: Medical cannabis (MC) has been found effective in treating multiple symptoms commonly experienced by older adults; however, residents in long-term care (LTC) often lack access to MC products. This study seeks to identify patterns and barriers to recommending MC to patients and to explore the knowledge and attitudes toward MC use among patients and providers.

Methods: The quantitative portion of this study employed a survey to assess the knowledge of, attitudes toward, and barriers to MC among 126 providers in Florida LTC.

Background: The anterior-based muscle-sparing (ABMS) approach, using the intramuscular interval between the tensor fascia lata and gluteus medius, is an increasingly popular total hip arthroplasty (THA) approach. Its incidence of lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (LFCN) numbness has not been defined. The incidence of LFCN symptoms in direct anterior THA ranges from 7%-32% at 1-year follow-up.

Provider Impressions of Inpatient Teleneurology Consultation.

Background And Objectives: Teleneurology usage has increased during the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 pandemic. However, studies evaluating physician impressions of inpatient teleneurology are limited. We implemented a quality improvement initiative to evaluate neurologists' impression following individual inpatient teleneurology consultation at a satellite hospital of a large academic center with no in-person neurology coverage.

Cells often migrate on curved surfaces inside the body, such as curved tissues, blood vessels, or highly curved protrusions of other cells. Recent in vitro experiments provide clear evidence that motile cells are affected by the curvature of the substrate on which they migrate, preferring certain curvatures to others, termed "curvotaxis." The origin and underlying mechanism that gives rise to this curvature sensitivity are not well understood.

De novo prediction of RNA 3D structures with deep generative models.

We present a Deep Learning approach to predict 3D folding structures of RNAs from their nucleic acid sequence. Our approach combines an autoregressive Deep Generative Model, Monte Carlo Tree Search, and a score model to find and rank the most likely folding structures for a given RNA sequence. We show that RNA de novo structure prediction by deep learning is possible at atom resolution, despite the low number of experimentally measured structures that can be used for training.

Purpose: Glucocorticoid (GC)-induced hyperglycemia is a frequent issue, however there are no specific guidelines for this diabetes subtype. Although treat-to-target insulin is recommended in general to correct hyperglycemia, it remains unclear which treatment strategy has a positive effect on outcomes. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to assess whether treating GC-induced hyperglycemia improves clinical outcomes.

Both, empathy and narcissism, are multidimensional constructs, and their relation might depend upon contextual factors. We investigated social affect and cognition in narcissism spanning self-reported traits and experiential states (Ecological Momentary Assessment) as well as behavioral and brain indicators (task-related functional magnetic resonance imaging).

Adjunct prednisone in community-acquired pneumonia: 180-day outcome of a multicentre, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial.

Background: Several trials and meta-analyses found a benefit of adjunct corticosteroids for community-acquired pneumonia with respect to short-term outcome, but there is uncertainty about longer-term health effects. Herein, we evaluated clinical outcomes at long term in patients participating in the STEP trial (Corticosteroid Treatment for Community-Acquired Pneumonia).

Methods: This predefined secondary analysis investigated 180-day outcomes in 785 adult patients hospitalized with community-acquired pneumonia included in STEP, a randomised, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial.

This study applies non-intrusive polynomial chaos expansion (NIPCE) surrogate modeling to analyze the performance of a rotary blood pump (RBP) across its operating range. We systematically investigate key parameters, including polynomial order, training data points, and data smoothness, while comparing them to test data. Using a polynomial order of 4 and a minimum of 20 training points, we successfully train a NIPCE model that accurately predicts pressure head and axial force within the specified operating point range ([0-5000] rpm and [0-7] l/min).

However, whether interference with other cellular processes contributes to aldehyde toxicity has not been investigated.

Phylogenetic diversity and the structure of host-epiphyte interactions across the Neotropics.

Understanding the mechanisms driving community assembly has been a major focus of ecological research for nearly a century, yet little is known about these mechanisms in commensal communities, particularly with respect to their historical/evolutionary components. Here, we use a large-scale dataset of 4,440 vascular plant species to explore the relationship between the evolutionary distinctiveness (ED) (as measured by the 'species evolutionary history' (SEH)) of host species and the phylogenetic diversity (PD) of their associated epiphyte species. Although there was considerable variation across hosts and their associated epiphyte species, they were largely unrelated to host SEH.
