Full-Arch Rehabilitation of a Patient With Cyclic Neutropenia.

The purpose of this report is to discuss the treatment of a patient with cyclic neutropenia. This patient presented with flared teeth, thin alveolar bone, and mobile teeth. A staged approach was used to remove her teeth, augment the bone, use immediate fixed provisional to determine the type of final prostheses, and ultimately to use cone-shaped overdenture attachments to retain her final prostheses.

Cardiovascular risk factors: Belgian target achievement.

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the level of target achievement for key modifiable cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors (dyslipidaemia, arterial hypertension, hyperglycaemia, smoking, and physical inactivity) in Belgium.

Methods And Results: This non-systematic review of Belgian data from four recent studies assessed the control of CVD risk factors in clinical settings: the European Study on Cardiovascular Risk Prevention and Management in Usual Daily Practice (EURIKA), the Optimal Type 2 Diabetes Management Including Benchmarking and Standard Treatment Study (OPTIMISE), the European Action on Secondary and Primary Prevention by Intervention to Reduce Events Survey (EUROASPIRE III), and data from a general practice-based morbidity registration network (INTEGO). For each study, target achievement levels were evaluated using the guidelines that were applicable at the time of the study.

A Fully Automated Diabetes Prevention Program, Alive-PD: Program Design and Randomized Controlled Trial Protocol.

Background: In the United States, 86 million adults have pre-diabetes. Evidence-based interventions that are both cost effective and widely scalable are needed to prevent diabetes.

The interaction between medical burden and anticholinergic cognitive burden on neuropsychological function in a geriatric primary care sample.

Poorer neuropsychological function is associated with increased medical burden (MB) and the use of more anticholinergic medications. However, the interaction between MB and anticholinergic cognitive burden (AB) on neuropsychological performance is unknown. In a sample of 290 elderly primary care patients, those with a greater level of AB demonstrated poorer Total Index performance on the Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS).

Hyperglycemic clamp and oral glucose tolerance test for 3-year prediction of clinical onset in persistently autoantibody-positive offspring and siblings of type 1 diabetic patients.

Context And Objective: In preparation of future prevention trials, we aimed to identify predictors of 3-year diabetes onset among oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT)- and hyperglycemic clamp-derived metabolic markers in persistently islet autoantibody positive (autoAb(+)) offspring and siblings of patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D).

Background: The International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups (IADPSG) recommends universal screening with a 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) using stricter criteria for gestational diabetes (GDM). Background: Treatment of cystic fibrosis (CF) patients with inhaled hypertonic saline (HS) solutions is safe, beneficial and reduces exacerbation rates. We studied contamination of solutions used by Israeli CF patients for prolonged periods.
