Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is one of the most common genetic cardiac disorders and is characterized by different phenotypes of left ventricular hypertrophy with and without obstruction. The effects of left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction based on different anatomies may be hemodynamically relevant and influence therapeutic decision making. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) provides anatomical information.

Introduction: Myocardial tissue alterations in patients with post-Coronavirus disease 2019 syndrome (PCS) are often subtle and mild. Reports vary in the prevalence of non-ischemic and ischemic injuries as well as the extent of ongoing myocardial inflammation. The exact relevance of these myocardial alterations is not fully understood.

Background: In cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging parametric T1 mapping lacks universally valid reference values. This limits its extensive use in the clinical routine. The aim of this work was the introduction of our self-developed Magnetic Resonance Imaging Software for Standardization (MARISSA) as a post-hoc standardisation approach.

In reference to gene annotation, more than half of the tRNA species synthesized by Mycobacterium tuberculosis require the enzymatic addition of the cytosine-cytosine-adenine (CCA) tail, which is indispensable for amino acid charging and tRNA functionality. It makes the mycobacterial CCA-adding enzyme essential for survival of the bacterium and a potential target for novel pipelines in drug discovery avenues. Here, we described the rv3907c gene product, originally annotated as poly(A)polymerase (rv3907c, PcnA) as a functional CCA-adding enzyme (CCA) essential for viability of M.

Objectives: The analysis of myocardial deformation using feature tracking in cardiovascular MR allows for the assessment of global and segmental strain values. The aim of this study was to compare strain values derived from artificial intelligence (AI)-based contours with manually derived strain values in healthy volunteers and patients with cardiac pathologies.

Materials And Methods: A cohort of 136 subjects (60 healthy volunteers and 76 patients; of those including 46 cases with left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) of varying etiology and 30 cases with chronic myocardial infarction) was analyzed.

Background: Parametric mapping sequences in cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) allow for non-invasive myocardial tissue characterization. However quantitative myocardial mapping is still limited by the need for local reference values. Confounders, such as field strength, vendors and sequences, make intersite comparisons challenging.

Background: Components of the metabolic syndrome are more common in patients with Turner syndrome (TS) than in the general population. Long-term growth hormone (GH) treatment also affects the parameters of carbohydrate metabolism. Therefore, all these factors should be monitored in girls with TS.

Background: Patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) are at high risk of adverse cardiovascular events. Until now, the burden of myocardial injury derived from cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) has not been established in this population.

Methods: Patients with AIS underwent CMR at 3 Tesla within 120 h after the index stroke as part of a prospective, single-center study.

Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) examinations require standardization to achieve reproducible results. Therefore, quality control as known as in other industries such as in-vitro diagnostics, could be of essential value. One such method is the statistical detection of long-time drifts of clinically relevant measurements.

The manual and often time-consuming segmentation of the myocardium in cardiovascular magnetic resonance is increasingly automated using convolutional neural networks (CNNs). This study proposes a cascaded segmentation (CASEG) approach to improve automatic image segmentation quality. First, an object detection algorithm predicts a bounding box (BB) for the left ventricular myocardium whose 1.

Introduction: Myocarditis-like findings after COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) infection and vaccination were reported by applying cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR). These results are very heterogenous and dependent on several factors such as hospital admission or outpatient treatment, timing of CMR, and symptomatic load. This retrospective study aimed to identify differences in myocardial damage in patients with persistent symptoms both after COVID-19 infection and vaccine by applying CMR.

Two-component signal transduction systems enable mycobacterial cells to quickly adapt and adequately respond to adverse environmental conditions encountered at various stages of host infection. We attempted to determine the role of the Rv3143 "orphan" response regulator in the physiology of and its orthologue Msmeg_2064 in . We identified the Rv3143 protein as an interaction partner for NuoD, a member of the type I NADH dehydrogenase complex involved in oxidative phosphorylation.

Purpose: Myocardial fat infiltrations are associated with a range of cardiomyopathies. The purpose of this study was to perform cardio-respiratory motion-correction for model-based water-fat separation to image fatty infiltrations of the heart in a free-breathing, non-cardiac-triggered high-resolution 3D MRI acquisition.

Methods: Data were acquired in nine patients using a free-breathing, non-cardiac-triggered high-resolution 3D Dixon gradient-echo sequence and radial phase encoding trajectory.

Background: As Turner syndrome (TS) predisposes to obesity and metabolic disorders, and their complications, such as cardiovascular diseases, are the main causes of shortened life expectancy in patients with TS, new metabolic markers that could serve as early predictors of dysmetabolic state are sought.

Objective: Assessment of MMP-1 (matrix metalloproteinase-1), MMP-2 (matrix metalloproteinase-2), MMP-9 (matrix metallopeptidase-9), BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor), GDNF (glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor), and VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) before the onset of growth hormone (GH) therapy and then during GH treatment as well as markers assessment during GH medication in girls with TS to establish marker stability and repeatability, and the impact of GH on markers concentration.

Method: The concentrations of circulating MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-9, BDNF, GDNF, and VEGF were measured in nine girls with TS before the onset of GH therapy and then after at least 3 months of treatment period.

Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) has become an accepted method for noninvasive imaging in cardiology. As part of a multimodality concept, this method can contribute valuable diagnostic aspects, often even as a first-choice method in a variety of diseases. Currently the availability is still limited, but the increasing time efficiency, technical stability and the growing competence will lead to more guideline-compliant use.

Aim: Muscular dystrophy (MD) is a progressive disease with predominantly muscular symptoms. Myotonic dystrophy type II (MD2) and facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy type 1 (FSHD1) are gaining an increasing awareness, but data on cardiac involvement are conflicting. The aim of this study was to determine a progression of cardiac remodeling in both entities by applying cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) and evaluate its potential relation to arrhythmias as well as to conduction abnormalities.

Purpose Of Review: This review aims to outline the utility of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) in patients with different types of muscular dystrophies for the assessment of myocardial involvement, risk stratification and in guiding therapeutic decisions.

Recent Findings: In patients suffering from muscular dystrophies (MD), even mild initial dysfunction may lead to severe heart failure over a time course of years. CMR plays an increasing role in the diagnosis and clinical care of these patients, mostly due to its unique capability to precisely characterize subclinical and progressive changes in cardiac geometry, function in order to differentiate myocardial injury it allows the identification of inflammation, focal and diffuse fibrosis as well as fatty infiltration.
