Iodine status during child development and hearing ability: a systematic review.

Iodine, through the thyroid hormones, is required for the development of the auditory cortex and cochlea (the sensory organ for hearing). Deafness is a well-documented feature of endemic cretinism resulting from severe iodine deficiency. However, the range of effects of suboptimal iodine intake during auditory development on the hearing ability of children is less clear.

Renal rescue therapy in early stage of severe sepsis: a case study approach.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of noradrenaline and furosemide in combination for the treatment of impending acute renal failure in early stage of severe sepsis.
