Introduction: Several prognostic scores were developed for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with brain metastases (BM), though limited data reported for the KRAS-mutated subgroup. KRAS-targeted therapies have improved extracranial and intracranial response, highlighting the need for reliable prognostic biomarkers.
Methods: A retrospective cohort (2010-2020) comprising 220 patients with BM KRAS-mutated NSCLC from two large academic Thoracic Oncology centers (Karolinska and Heidelberg) was analyzed.
Background: In the Compensatory-Dissociative Online Gaming (C-DOG; Giardina et al., 2024) model, we proposed a continuum from compensatory to dissociative gaming involvement. This continuum represents different degrees of integration between physical and virtual environments with three core processes - Active Escapism, Escape, and Dissociation - and two peripheral processes - Gaming-Related Relaxation and Body-Mind Detachment.

This case report presents a novel surgical approach combining a lymphatic system transfer based on a pedicled superficial circumflex iliac perforator flap with nanofibrillar collagen scaffolds to address genital lymphedema secondary to hidradenitis suppurativa. A 47-year-old man with hidradenitis suppurativa-related genital lymphedema, unresponsive to conservative measures, underwent the procedure.

Finger pulley and flexor tendon injuries are common among climbers, with the A2 pulley being the most frequently affected. High-resolution ultrasound (US) is the preferred method for detecting pulley injuries.

This practice widens the pool of available organs, but also presents important virological issues, including the potential for HIV superinfection of the recipient, viral persistence in the kidney, and loss of virological control.METHODSWe addressed these issues by performing in-depth longitudinal viral sequence analyses on urine, blood, and urine-derived renal epithelial cells from 12 recipients of HIV+ kidney allografts.

We examined the reciprocal associations between a group member's (e.

Cell death induced by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is well studied in myeloid cells but less in its primary host cell type, angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2)-expressing human airway epithelia (HAE). SARS-CoV-2 induces apoptosis, necroptosis, and pyroptosis in HAE organotypic cultures.

Methods: The study cohort included 713 consecutive immunotherapy patients with advanced lung adenocarcinomas, negative for actionable genetic alterations.
Background: Pain in cancer patients is a complex clinical problem. Pain is systematically assessed and treated during palliative care, but little is known about how it is addressed before starting palliative care.
Aim: This study primarily analyzed pain, symptoms, ongoing therapy at patients' admittance to the palliative care unit, and the relationships between pain and tumor, comorbidities, performance status and quality of life (QoL).
Objectives: To examine the value of a novel high-resolution thermographic marker in the detection of joint inflammation compared to joint ultrasound (US) and to suggest thermographic cut-off values of joint inflammatory activity.
Methods: Infrared thermographies were performed in patients with inflammatory arthritides and healthy controls. Patients were moreover examined clinically and by joint-US [Power-Doppler-(PDUS), Greyscale-US (GSUS)].
Diverse and rapidly mutating viruses pose challenges to immunogen and vaccine design. In this study, we evaluated the ability of memory B-cells obtained from two independent NHP trials to cross-react with individual HIV-1 vaccine components of two different multivalent immunization strategies. We demonstrated that while an HIV-1 Env multiclade, multivalent immunization regimen resulted in a dominant memory B-cell response that converged toward shared epitopes, in a sequential immunization with clonally-related non-stabilized gp140 HIV-1 Envs followed by SOSIP-stabilized gp140 trimers, the change in immunogen format resulted in repriming of the B-cell response.

Case Description: This is a case of a Caucasian 81-years-old man who presented 10 years ago to our clinic with a pink-white para-limbal mass with dilated feeder arteries and mild leukoplakia. Excisional biopsy confirmed the presence of conjunctival intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN).
Background: Primary and metastatic leiomyosarcomas (LMS) involving the orbital region are well known to occur however, the conjunctiva represents an extremely rare site of occurrence.
Methods: A 97-year-old male was referred to the Ocular Oncology Unit due to a rapidly growing painful mass (16×12×20 mm) in the nasal conjunctiva of his left eye. Wide excision followed by radiotherapy was performed.

The migration of silicone oil into the suprachoroidal region is a rare complication of vitrectomy. A 70-year-old man was admitted to our ocular oncology unit with a choroidal elevation in the nasal area, as well as signs of pars plana vitrectomy surgery performed about 5 years ago for retinal detachment. The patient underwent ocular ultrasound, visual field test, fluorangiography, and magnetic resonance imaging, which led to the diagnosis of silicone oil migration in the suprachoroidal space.

Our purpose is to describe the outcome of a retrospective case series of 10 patients with advanced ocular surface and periocular tumors treated surgically in first instance and then with postoperative interventional radiotherapy (IRT/Brachiterapy).
Materials And Methods: We describe the clinicopathological features, treatments and outcome, in a retrospective case series of 10 patients with advanced tumors involving ocular surface (staging ≥ T2) and eyelids (staging ≥ T3), with involvement of periocular and/or orbit tissues.
Background: Periocular malignancies may be clinically different from the examples arising at other sites, with possible delayed diagnosis and greater challenges for treatment and repair. Line-field confocal optical coherence tomography (LC-OCT) is a recently developed technique characterized by an unprecedented capacity to acquire high-definition images in vertical and horizontal modes. In this study, we aimed to investigate the LC-OCT morphological features of a series of eyelid skin lesions, correlating them to histopathological findings.

IDLVs based on the simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) are significantly more efficient at transducing human and simian dendritic cells (DCs) compared to HIV-based vectors, resulting in a higher expansion of antigen-specific CD8+ T cells. Additionally, IDLV persistence and continuous antigen expression in muscle cells at the injection site contributes to the durability of the vaccine-induced immune responses.

This systematic review aims to summarize extant literature that reported on problematic gaming among both adolescents and adults during the pandemic and to identify available research on the bidirectional association between problematic gaming and mental health outcomes.
Method: A systematic search was carried out through PubMed, Web of Knowledge and AGRIS, Embase, Medline, PsychINFO (from January 2020 to January 2023), using keywords related to problematic gaming and mental health outcomes.
Objective: First-line pembrolizumab alone, as approved for PD-L1 ≥50%, or with chemotherapy was analyzed in older non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients, for whom evidence is scarce.
Materials And Methods: A total of 156 consecutive ≥70 year-old patients treated between January 2016 and May 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. Tumor progression was verified through radiologic review, while toxicity was captured from records.
