Research on lifestyle programs for patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) has largely recruited from hospitals and/or recruited following acute coronary syndrome. By contrast, this study evaluated a 3-session behavioral health program for patients with stable CAD treated in an outpatient cardiology clinic. A Novel Stress-Diathesis Model to Predict Risk of Post-operative Delirium: Implications for Intra-operative Management.

Risk assessment for post-operative delirium (POD) is poorly developed. Improved metrics could greatly facilitate peri-operative care as costs associated with POD are staggering. In this preliminary study, we develop a novel stress-diathesis model based on comprehensive pre-operative psychiatric and neuropsychological testing, a blood oxygenation level-dependent (BOLD) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) carbon dioxide (CO) stress test, and high fidelity measures of intra-operative parameters that may interact facilitating POD.

Depressed mood predicts pulmonary rehabilitation completion among women, but not men.

Background: As many as 30% of patients who start pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) fail to complete it, and depressed mood has been associated with PR non-completion. Depression is more common in women than men with COPD and historically women with COPD have been under studied. However, no studies to date have investigated gender-specific predictors of PR completion.

Maternal genotype influences behavioral development of 3×Tg-AD mouse pups.

Transgenic mice are a valuable tool in the investigation of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease. The triple transgenic mouse (3×Tg-AD) is a model of Alzheimer's disease that possesses age-related amyloid beta plaques, neurofibrillary tangles and cell death as well as cognitive decline. Because maternal effects may interact with pup genotype in determining behavior phenotypes, we used a cross-fostering paradigm to investigate the effects of maternal genotype on behavioral development of the 3×Tg-AD mouse model and its wildtype control (B6129S1F2) from 2 to 24 days of age.

Purpose: Women younger than 25 years are at greatest risk for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, including high-risk strains associated with 70% of cervical cancers. Effective model-based measures that can lead to intervention development to increase HPV vaccination rates are necessary. This study validated Transtheoretical Model measures of Decisional Balance and Self-Efficacy for seeking the HPV vaccine in a sample of female college students.

Stability of AMH measurement in blood and avoidance of proteolytic changes.

The new Gen II assay for anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) shows good stability and reliability in serum, but analyses of stability in whole blood are lacking. Testing the effects of storage of whole-blood samples at room temperature revealed significant increases in the measured value of AMH of 31% over 4 days (P<0.001).

Early on, there was no supervision or accreditation of these fellowships, and they varied widely in content, structure, and quality. This was widely recognized as being a bad situation for fellow applicants and reflected poorly on the specialties of minimally invasive (MI) and GI surgery.
