The Europa Imaging System (EIS) Investigation.

The Europa Imaging System (EIS) consists of a Narrow-Angle Camera (NAC) and a Wide-Angle Camera (WAC) that are designed to work together to address high-priority science objectives regarding Europa's geology, composition, and the nature of its ice shell. EIS accommodates variable geometry and illumination during rapid, low-altitude flybys with both framing and pushbroom imaging capability using rapid-readout, 8-megapixel (4k × 2k) detectors. Color observations are acquired using pushbroom imaging with up to six broadband filters.

Perspectives of Key Stakeholders on Integrating Wearable Sensor Technology into Rehabilitation Care: A Mixed-Methods Analysis.

Introduction: Rehabilitation is facing a critical practice gap: Patients seek out rehabilitation services to improve their activity in daily life, yet recent work demonstrates that rehabilitation may be having a limited impact on improving this outcome due to lack of objective data on patients' activity in daily life. Remote monitoring using wearable sensor technology is a promising solution to this address this gap. The purpose of this study was to understand patient and clinician awareness of the practice gap and preferences for integrating wearable sensor technology into rehabilitation care.

A Large Harmonized Upper and Lower Limb Accelerometry Dataset: A Resource for Rehabilitation Scientists.

Wearable sensors can measure movement in daily life, an outcome that is salient to patients, and have been critical to accelerating progress in rehabilitation research and practice. However, collecting and processing sensor data is burdensome, leaving many scientists with limited access to such data. To address these challenges, we present a harmonized, wearable sensor dataset that combines 2,885 recording days of sensor data from the upper and lower limbs from eight studies.

Geologic Constraints on the Formation and Evolution of Saturn's Mid-Sized Moons.

Saturn's mid-sized icy moons have complex relationships with Saturn's interior, the rings, and with each other, which can be expressed in their shapes, interiors, and geology. Observations of their physical states can, thus, provide important constraints on the ages and formation mechanism(s) of the moons, which in turn informs our understanding of the formation and evolution of Saturn and its rings. Here, we describe the cratering records of the mid-sized moons and the value and limitations of their use for constraining the histories of the moons.

Wide Local Excision Before Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy in Melanoma.

Background: Current guidelines suggest that wide local excision of thick melanomas be delayed until sentinel lymph node biopsies can be performed.

Objective: To examine the literature and determine if there is a scientific basis for delaying wide local excision of thick melanomas.

Materials And Methods: A narrative review of the literature was undertaken to examine all available studies on the subject.

Quantifying the effects of sleep on sensor-derived variables from upper limb accelerometry in people with and without upper limb impairment.

Background: Despite the promise of wearable sensors for both rehabilitation research and clinical care, these technologies pose significant burden on data collectors and analysts. Investigations of factors that may influence the wearable sensor data processing pipeline are needed to support continued use of these technologies in rehabilitation research and integration into clinical care settings. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of one such factor, sleep, on sensor-derived variables from upper limb accelerometry in people with and without upper limb impairment and across a two-day wearing period.

Synchronizing Drosophila larvae with the salivary gland reporter Sgs3-GFP for discovery of phenotypes in the late third instar stage.

The larval stage of the Drosophila melanogaster life cycle is characterized by rapid growth and nutrient storage that occur over three instar stages separated by molts. In the third instar, the steroid hormone ecdysone drives key developmental processes and behaviors that occur in a temporally-controlled sequence and prepare the animal to undergo metamorphosis. Accurately staging Drosophila larvae within the final third instar is critical due to the rapid developmental progress at this stage, but it is challenging because the rate of development varies widely across a population of animals even if eggs are laid within a short period of time.

Natural Infection with H5N1 Highly Pathogenic Influenza (HPAI) Virus in 5- and 10-Day-Old Commercial Pekin Ducklings ().

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has resulted in catastrophic economic losses globally in poultry. This case report describes the diagnostic detection and pathology of HPAI H5N1 in 5-day-old commercial ducklings, which is an atypical age for detection of natural infection of HPAI in poultry. The pathology observed at 5 days of age was also compared to lesions observed in ducklings from the same flock evaluated at 10 days of age before depopulation.

Knowledge Translation Task Force for core measures clinical practice guideline: a short report on the process and utilization.

Background: As part of the 2018 Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG): A Core Set of Outcome Measures for Adults with Neurologic Conditions Undergoing Rehabilitation, a Knowledge Translation (KT) Task Force was convened. The purpose of this short report was to (1) demonstrate the potential impact of a CPG KT Task Force through a practical example of efforts to implement a CPG into neurologic physical therapy practice and (2) describe the process to convene a KT Task Force and develop products (KT Toolkit) to facilitate implementation of the CPG.

Methods: To describe the process used by the KT Task Force to develop and review a KT Toolkit for implementation of the CPG.

Referent data for investigations of upper limb accelerometry: harmonized data from three cohorts of typically-developing children.

Aim: The rise of wearable sensing technology shows promise for addressing the challenges of measuring motor behavior in pediatric populations. The current pediatric wearable sensing literature is highly variable with respect to the number of sensors used, sensor placement, wearing time, and how data extracted from the sensors are analyzed. Many studies derive conceptually similar variables via different calculation methods, making it hard to compare across studies and clinical populations.

Do Social Support and Loneliness Influence Emerging Adults' Mental Health during the First Year of the COVID-19 Pandemic?

Youths' mental health is at a crisis level, with mental health problems doubling in the US since the pandemic began. To compound the mental health crisis, there is a global loneliness epidemic, with emerging adults worldwide experiencing some of the highest rates. One study with two phases examined the influence of social support and loneliness on mental health in US emerging adults during the pandemic, including changes in these relationships over one year.

ICF classification of therapeutic goals for outpatient episodes of neurorehabilitation in post-stroke and Parkinson disease.

Purpose: To understand therapeutic priorities, a secondary data analysis on a retrospective cohort was conducted to classify rehabilitation goals according to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF).

Materials And Methods: Therapeutic goals from an initial outpatient physical or occupational therapy evaluation for patients post-stroke or with Parkinson disease, were classified into Level 1 of the ICF. Goals in the Activity and Participation component were further sub-classified as activity capacity or activity performance (self-report or direct) in daily life.

Nutrient intake is obligatory for animal growth and development, but nutrients alone are not sufficient. Indeed, insulin and homologous hormones are required for normal growth even in the presence of nutrients. These hormones communicate nutrient status between organs, allowing animals to coordinate growth and metabolism with nutrient supply.

Comprehensive Assessment of the Activity Level of the ICF Using Both Capacity and Performance Measures: A Case Report.

Individuals with neurologic conditions seek physical therapy services to improve mobility in their daily lives. While clinicians commonly track activity capacity, measurement of activity performance in daily life is an emerging yet unstandardized practice within routine clinical physical therapy. The purpose of this case report is to (1) provide an example of the structure, clinical reasoning, and implementation of both activity capacity and activity performance level assessments across an episode of outpatient physical therapy and (2) to describe how objective activity performance in daily life tracking supported the physical therapy intervention and education plan.

Exploring the Interior of Europa with the Europa Clipper.

The Galileo mission to Jupiter revealed that Europa is an ocean world. The Galileo magnetometer experiment in particular provided strong evidence for a salty subsurface ocean beneath the ice shell, likely in contact with the rocky core. Within the ice shell and ocean, a number of tectonic and geodynamic processes may operate today or have operated at some point in the past, including solid ice convection, diapirism, subsumption, and interstitial lake formation.

Curriculum mapping of accredited pharmacy programs in the United States.

Introduction: No current guidance exists to inform the content area credit hours for doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) programs in the United States (US).

Methods: Public websites were accessed for all Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited PharmD programs in the US to record the credit hours devoted to drug therapy, clinical skills, experiential learning, scholarship, social and administrative sciences, physiology/pathophysiology, pharmacogenomics, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, and pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics in the didactic curricula. Due to the high prevalence of programs that integrate drug therapy, pharmacology, and medicinal chemistry into a single course, we subdivided programs based upon whether drug therapy courses were "integrated" or "non-integrated.

Use of accounting concepts to study research: return on investment in XSEDE, a US cyberinfrastructure service.

This paper uses accounting concepts-particularly the concept of Return on Investment (ROI)-to reveal the quantitative value of scientific research pertaining to a major US cyberinfrastructure project (XSEDE-the eXtreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment). XSEDE provides operational and support services for advanced information technology systems, cloud systems, and supercomputers supporting non-classified US research, with an average budget for XSEDE of US$20M+ per year over the period studied (2014-2021). To assess the financial effectiveness of these services, we calculated a proxy for ROI, and converted quantitative measures of XSEDE service delivery into financial values using costs for service from the US marketplace.

Predicting later categories of upper limb activity from earlier clinical assessments following stroke: an exploratory analysis.

Background: Accelerometers allow for direct measurement of upper limb (UL) activity. Recently, multi-dimensional categories of UL performance have been formed to provide a more complete measure of UL use in daily life. Prediction of motor outcomes after stroke have tremendous clinical utility and a next step is to explore what factors might predict someone's subsequent UL performance category.

Sodium channel-inhibiting drugs and cancer-specific survival: a population-based study of electronic primary care data.

Objectives: Antiepileptic and antiarrhythmic drugs inhibit voltage-gated sodium (Na) channels (VGSCs), and preclinical studies show that these medications reduce tumour growth, invasion and metastasis. We investigated the association between VGSC inhibitor use and survival in patients with breast, bowel and prostate cancer.

Circular bacteriocins are antimicrobial peptides produced by bacteria that after synthesis undergo a head-to-tail circularization. Compared to their linear counterparts, circular bacteriocins are, in general, very stable to temperature and pH changes and more resistant to proteolytic enzymes, being considered as one of the most promising groups of antimicrobial peptides for their potential biotechnological applications. Up to now, only a reduced number of circular bacteriocins have been identified and fully characterized, although many operons potentially coding for new circular bacteriocins have been recently found in the genomes of different bacterial species.

Charge transfer dynamics and interlayer exciton formation in MoS/VOPc mixed dimensional heterojunction.

Mixed-dimensional van der Waals heterojunctions involve interfacing materials with different dimensionalities, such as a 2D transition metal dichalcogenide and a 0D organic semiconductor. These heterojunctions have shown unique interfacial properties not found in either individual component. Here, we use femtosecond transient absorption to reveal photoinduced charge transfer and interlayer exciton formation in a mixed-dimensional type-II heterojunction between monolayer MoS and vanadyl phthalocyanine (VOPc).

An immune dysfunction score for stratification of patients with acute infection based on whole-blood gene expression.

Dysregulated host responses to infection can lead to organ dysfunction and sepsis, causing millions of global deaths each year. To alleviate this burden, improved prognostication and biomarkers of response are urgently needed. We investigated the use of whole-blood transcriptomics for stratification of patients with severe infection by integrating data from 3149 samples from patients with sepsis due to community-acquired pneumonia or fecal peritonitis admitted to intensive care and healthy individuals into a gene expression reference map.
