Gestational breast cancer (GBC), defined as breast cancer (BC) diagnosed during pregnancy or the first-year post-partum, accounts for 6-15% of BC cases in women aged 20-44 years. GBC has worse prognosis than non-GBC, but reasons behind are not clear. The GEICAM/2012-03 Study (Molecular Characterization of Gestational Breast Cancer) is a multicenter prospective/retrospective observational registry of patients diagnosed with GBC.

Methods: Between August 13th, 2020 and March 23rd, 2022, this 2-cohort, phase 2, multicentre, single-arm trial (NCT04300790) enrolled patients with HR+/HER2-/PIK3CA-mutated ABC: cohort A, normal glycaemia (fasting plasma glucose <100 mg/dL [<5.
Objective: The following research paper seeks to explore how post-occupancy evaluations (POEs) are undertaken in the nine health jurisdictions across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand and investigate if the process can be strengthened to better inform healthcare design and investment.
Background: Healthcare expenditure in both nations is increasing, and the rigorous evaluation of healthcare facilities can provide evidence to improve their return on investment. A POE is a research method used to undertake this analysis, usually 12 months after a facility has been occupied.
Introduction/objectives: To describe abemaciclib use in patients with hormone receptor-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor-negative (HR+/HER2-) metastatic breast cancer (mBC) who participated in the Named Patient Use program (NPU) in Spain.
Material And Methods: This retrospective study was based on medical record review of patients across 20 centers during 2018/2019. Patients were followed up until death, enrolment in a clinical trial, loss of follow-up or study end.
Background: Trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd) has shown durable antitumor activity in pretreated patients with HER2-positive advanced breast cancer (ABC), but its efficacy has not yet been evaluated in patients with active brain metastases (BMs). DEBBRAH aims to assess T-DXd in patients with HER2-positive or HER2-low ABC and central nervous system involvement.
Methods: This ongoing, five-cohort, phase II study (NCT04420598) enrolled patients with pretreated HER2-positive or HER2-low ABC with stable, untreated, or progressing BMs, and/or leptomeningeal carcinomatosis.
Children with complex communication needs (CCN) regularly have barriers to express and discuss emotions, and have fewer opportunities to participate in emotional conversations. The study explores and analyzes the changes after a training program focused on offering an interactive home learning environment that encouraged and modeled emotion-related conversations between a parent and a child with CCN within storybook-reading contexts. An observational design (nomothetic/follow-up/multidimensional) was used to explore and analyze the changes in the communicative interaction around emotions between mother-child.

This profile distills information from a longer interview tool that solicits a detailed case history (the EDEC), but in a format that is readily accessible for communication partners of children with complex communication needs, including parents, educators, and other professionals. Method In this clinical focus article, we will (a) introduce the EDEC-P structure, (b) illustrate via case examples the types of information that can be shared, and (c) offer preliminary feedback from parents and other professionals on its usefulness.

This holds importance for high schizotypes since anxiety relates to psychotic symptom development. The study investigated whether schizotypal traits and anxiety itself influence help-seeking behaviour.

Patients And Methods: Patient data were collected retrospectively from 35 hospitals in Spain. Patients with HR/HER2 mBC who had progressed on ≥4 treatments for advanced disease were eligible.
Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is a rare thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) characterized by the severe deficiency of a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with a thrombospondin type 1 motif, member 13 (ADAMTS13) activity (< 10%). Rapid ADAMTS13 testing is crucial for an early diagnosis and optimal management of acute TTP. We evaluated the performance of the HemosIL AcuStar ADAMTS13 activity assay (Instrumentation Laboratory, Bedford, Massachusetts, United States), a fully automated chemiluminescent immunoassay with an analytical time of 33 minutes.

Although a number of Jak inhibitors has already demonstrated efficacy, they suffer from secondary effects apparently associated to their pan-Jak activity. However, whether selective Jak3 inhibition would afford therapeutic efficacy remains unclear.

Aim: To investigate the effect of dexfenfluramine (dF) on Energy Expenditure (EE).
Design: 20 obese females were studied in a double-blind design. Pre-diet and at 14 and 28 days of VLCD and dF treatment (30 mg/d) or placebo, Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR), 3 h-Thermic Effect of Food (3 h-TEF) and body composition were determined.

The aim of this study was to assess changes in resting energy expenditure (REE) related to changes in fat free mass (FFM) in nine morbid obese (BMI 43 +/- 5.1 kg/m2) hospitalised females on VLCD. REE was measured by 30 min indirect calorimetry before and after 28 days of hospitalisation.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: The equations available for the prediction of basal energy expenditure (BEE) may not be applicable in morbid obese individuals since the contribution of the fat free mass (FFM) over the BEE is not constant. The aim of this study was to obtain new equations for the prediction of BEE which are specific for patients with morbid obesity.
Methods: In 26 women with morbid obesity age, weight, body composition by bioelectric impedance and BEE by open circuit indirect calorimetry were determined.
Several fibrinolytic variables, including plasminogen activator inhibitor activity, were studied before and after exercise in 67 normolipidaemic patients with coronary artery disease and in 25 hyperlipidaemic patients with coronary artery disease. Before exercise plasminogen activator inhibitor activity was higher in the patient groups than in a group of 10 healthy volunteers. For those who were normolipidaemic plasminogen activator inhibitor activity was greater in patients with angina pectoris who had had a myocardial infarction.

65 pregnant women distributed in two groups, by a double-blind method received a placebo or a sunscreen cream (Pabafil SPF 10, with absorption range from 290 to 360 nm) for daily use on face during the second quarter of their pregnancy in summer time. In 30 patients "with optimum fulfillment" in the products application (16 with placebo and 14 with sunscreen cream) the melasma appearances were significantly lower in those with sunscreen application. In subgroups of the total number of pregnant women, with similar proportion of patients with placebo and sunscreen, the melasma appearances were significantly lower in skin types I-II, and in those that used cosmetics (versus those that did not).
