In Liberia, children are exposed to multiple forms of adversity which can negatively impact their health and development. Research is needed to examine the feasibility and benefits of integrated interventions that can be incorporated into existing health delivery programs to simultaneously address low responsive stimulation, undernutrition, and infection. This study assessed the feasibility of an integrated intervention promoting psychosocial stimulation and improved child feeding by the provision of eggs and fish.

Objective: To identify and map antibiotic use targets in European general practice and explore if and how these targets are linked to NAPs.
Methods: A systematic search was carried out in MEDLINE (OVID), EMBASE and SCOPUS, with additional manual searches.

The intracellular environment of skeletal muscle can develop pronounced hyperthermia and acidosis during strenuous exercise, and these alterations in the typical intracellular conditions have been shown to alter mitochondrial respiration. However, the impact of these conditions on ATP synthesis is poorly understood. We used Thoroughbred racehorses to test the hypothesis that both hyperthermia and acidosis decrease the rate of ATP synthesis, but that athletic conditioning mitigates this loss of phosphorylation capacity.

The purpose of this study was to revalidate these guidelines in a cohort of patients receiving helical intensity-modulated radiotherapy (H-IMRT) compared to a historical cohort who received primarily 3D-conformal radiotherapy. Eligible patients attending the RBWH H&N MDT between 2013 and 2014 (n = 315) were assessed by the guidelines, with high-risk patients being recommended proactive gastrostomy tube placement.

The NOL-Nociception Level Index is a multiparameter index, based on artificial intelligence for the monitoring of nociception (physiological pain response) during anesthesia that has recently been authorized by the FDA. The monitor utilizes continuous streams of information from a finger probe comprising four sensors, including photoplethysmography, to provide a personalized nociception score on a scale of 0-100. Recent studies have suggested racial bias in pulse oximeter measurements due to the effect of melanin levels on photoplethysmography measurements.

This study examines how individuals with UC: (1) utilize treatment and self-management methods and (2) make decisions regarding their use of these methods throughout the disease course. Adults living with UC ≥5 years and experienced ≥1 disease flare, participated in individual, semi-structured qualitative interviews.

Background & Aim: Treatment of Parkinson's disease (PD) has remained largely unchanged and focuses primarily on symptomatic relief through activation of dopaminergic pathways. Currently, there are no proven prophylactic approaches to the prevention of PD. This systematic review seeks to compare two separate compounds, metformin (MTF) and psilocybin, as potential prophylactic therapeutics against the development of PD.

Undiagnosed NCDs result in poor outcomes, such as increased incidence of depressive symptoms, longer length of stay, and mortality.
Objective: This study aims to identify the diagnostic test accuracy of screening tools for the detection of NCDs in older trauma patients in acute settings.
Global ecosystems are rapidly approaching tipping points, where minute shifts can lead to drastic ecological changes. Theory predicts that evolution can shape a system's tipping point behaviour, but direct experimental support is lacking. Here we investigate the power of evolutionary processes to alter these critical thresholds and protect an ecological community from collapse.

Background: Sexual harassment in secondary school is common but only recently acknowledged as a widespread problem in the United Kingdom. There is limited research on how schools respond to incidents of sexual harassment. The aim of this study was to understand how school systems shape the dynamics of disclosure, reporting and handling of sexual harassment in school (including behaviours, processes, norms), and to identify opportunities for effecting systems change.

Methods: Students clinically diagnosed with migraine were recruited (purposive sampling) from a sample of Irish third-level institutions for a one-time anonymized Zoom focus group or individual interview.
Background: The EXOFFIT study compared the effectiveness of three time-matched exercise interventions in women with obesity for improving cardiorespiratory fitness. To best inform future research, evaluation of the interventions' acceptability is needed. Previous research has been inconsistent with methods and reporting of acceptability.

Animals: A total of 25 client-owned dogs were included in this study.
Procedures: This study used client-owned dogs to explore the effects of cavaletti pole height on TPS and GRF variables.
Giant exoplanets orbiting close to their host stars are unlikely to have formed in their present configurations. These 'hot Jupiter' planets are instead thought to have migrated inward from beyond the ice line and several viable migration channels have been proposed, including eccentricity excitation through angular-momentum exchange with a third body followed by tidally driven orbital circularization. The discovery of the extremely eccentric (e = 0.

This systematic review aimed to identify, critically appraise, and summarize multivariable prediction models for mortality or other long-term recovery outcomes occurring at least 30 days after hip fracture.

In this case report, we describe a rare case of acute angle closure in an 18-year-old African-American female, attributed to plateau iris. The patient had no significant medical or ocular history and presented with high right-eye pressure, headache, and blurred vision. Ocular examination revealed findings consistent with acute angle closure, with gonioscopy confirming superior iris insertion anterior to Schwalbe's line and a "double hump" sign.

The relationship between obesity and CP is intricate and complex, with obesity being associated with increased pain-related disability, pain intensity, reduction in physical functioning and poorer psychological well-being. A Qualitative Evidence Synthesis (QES) provides an opportunity to better understand and reveal key areas within the patient experience of these complex interactions to inform best practice and future intervention design.

This quality improvement initiative sought to reduce UEs from tube dislodgement in a level IV NICU utilizing methods applicable to other ICUs and performed with minimal monetary funds.
Methods: From January 2019 to July 2023, an interdisciplinary quality improvement team used the Model for Improvement and performed sequential interventions to improve the outcome measure of UEs per 100 ventilator days.
Background: CARA set out to develop a data-visualisation platform to facilitate general practitioners to develop a deeper understanding of their patient population, disease management and prescribing through dashboards. To support the continued use and sustainability of the CARA dashboards, dashboard performance and user engagement have to be optimised. User research places people at the centre of the design process and aims to evaluate the needs, behaviours and attitudes of users to inform the design, development and impact of a product.
