Methods: Data from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study, including 1940 participants aged 11 to 12 years at Wave 1, were analyzed over three annual waves. Social media addiction (SMA) scores and time spent on social media were calculated from self-report questionnaires.
Objectives: To evaluate positive health outcomes among children born at < 32 weeks of gestation and to determine whether children with three common neonatal morbidities and 2 neurodevelopmental impairments would have similar positive health outcomes to children and adolescents without these exposures and impairments.
Study Design: In this secondary analysis of prospectively acquired data derived from 3 multicenter cohorts of children born very preterm (the Extremely Low Gestational Age Newborn cohort [birth years 2001 to 2004], the Neurobehavior And Outcomes in Very Preterm Infants cohort [birth years 2014 to 2016], and the Developmental Impact of Neurobehavior And Outcomes in Very Preterm Infants Exposures cohort [birth years 2010 to 2020]), we examined associations between the 3 common neonatal morbidities (bronchopulmonary dysplasia, necrotizing enterocolitis, and intraventricular hemorrhage, diagnosed before hospital discharge), 2 neurodevelopmental impairments (developmental delays and cerebral palsy, diagnosed at preschool age follow-up), and perceptions of physical, mental, and social well-being (in either early childhood or adolescence), using the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System scales for positive health.
Results: After adjusting for confounders, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, intraventricular hemorrhage, and cerebral palsy were associated with lower positive health scores, reported by parent-proxy during early childhood.

Introduction: Children and adolescents with elevated internalizing symptoms are at increased risk for depression, anxiety, and other psychopathology later in life. The present study examined the predictive links between two bioecological factors in early childhood-parental hostility and socioeconomic stress-and children's internalizing symptom class outcomes, while considering the effects of child sex assigned at birth on internalizing symptom development from childhood to adolescence.
Materials And Methods: The study used a sample of 1,534 children to test the predictive effects of socioeconomic stress at ages 18 and 27 months; hostile parenting measured at child ages 4-5; and sex assigned at birth on children's internalizing symptom latent class outcomes at child ages 7-9, 10-12, 13-15, and 16-19.
The corona virus disease (COVID-19) pandemic disrupted daily life worldwide, and its impact on child well-being remains a major concern. Neighborhood characteristics affect child well-being, but how these associations were affected by the pandemic is not well understood. We analyzed data from 1039 children enrolled in the Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes Program whose well-being was assessed using the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System Global Health questionnaire and linked these data to American Community Survey (ACS) data to evaluate the impacts of neighborhood characteristics on child well-being before and during the pandemic.

Background: This study aimed to identify contextual factors associated with life satisfaction during the COVID-19 pandemic for adolescents with mental, emotional, behavioral, and developmental (MEBD) disabilities.
Methods: Data were collected from a sample of 1084 adolescents aged 11-21 years from April 2020 to August 2021. This cross-sectional study used a sequential machine learning workflow, consisting of random forest regression and evolutionary tree regression, to identify subgroups of adolescents in the Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) consortium who demonstrated enhanced vulnerability to lower life satisfaction as described by intersecting risk factors, protective factors, and MEBD disabilities.

Purpose: When radiation therapy is medically necessary for pregnant patients, photon-based treatments (XRT) have traditionally been used, whereas proton radiation therapy (PRT) is avoided due to concerns about neutron dose. This retrospective study analyzes pregnant patients treated with XRT and models the equivalent dose that would have been delivered to the fetus with proton radiation compared with XRT. The purpose of this work is to provide a comprehensive analysis of pencil beam scanning proton therapy (PBS-PRT) for pregnant patients and to evaluate whether PBS-PRT should be the new standard of practice for treating pregnant patients with brain and head and neck cancers.

The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and PROMIS Psychological Stress Experiences-Pediatric (PPSE) are two self-report instruments that have been used with adolescents to measure subjective feelings of stress. Stress is a critical construct to evaluate, as chronic stress can result in negative long-term consequences for an individual's physical and mental health. While the PSS is more commonly used in research and clinical practice, use of the PPSE is becoming more widespread.
