[Frequency and severity of sarcopenia in patients with inflammatory and noninflammatory musculoskeletal diseases : Results of a monocentric study in a tertiary care center].

Introduction: Sarcopenia (SP) is defined as the pathological loss of muscle mass and function. This is a clinically relevant problem, especially in geriatric patients, because SP is associated with falls, frailty, loss of function, and increased mortality. People with inflammatory and degenerative rheumatic musculoskeletal disorders (RMD) are also at risk for developing SP; however, there is little research on the prevalence of this health disorder in this patient group using currently available SP criteria.

[Evaluation of the trabecular bone score (TBS) in routine clinical care of patients with inflammatory rheumatic and non-inflammatory diseases : Correlation with conventional bone mineral density measurement and prevalence of vertebral fractures].

Background: Osteoporosis-related fractures are common in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Bone mineral density (BMD) measurements using dual-energy x‑ray absorptiometry (DXA) alone has only a limited value for predicting the risk of fractures. The trabecular bone score (TBS) is a surrogate parameter for trabecular microarchitecture of bone and a predictor of fracture risk independent of BMD.

Observation of the Doubly Charmed Baryon Ξ_{cc}^{++}.

A highly significant structure is observed in the Λ_{c}^{+}K^{-}π^{+}π^{+} mass spectrum, where the Λ_{c}^{+} baryon is reconstructed in the decay mode pK^{-}π^{+}. The structure is consistent with originating from a weakly decaying particle, identified as the doubly charmed baryon Ξ_{cc}^{++}. The difference between the masses of the Ξ_{cc}^{++} and Λ_{c}^{+} states is measured to be 1334.

Mode of allocation and social demographic factors correlate with impaired quality of life after liver transplantation.

Background: Health-related Quality of life (HRQoL) is a major goal of clinical management after liver transplantation (LTx). There is still disagreement on the effects of social-demographic factors and changes in the allocation system on HRQoL. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of social-demographic factors, mode of organ-allocation, waiting time and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) on HRQoL after LTx.
