Background: We aimed to assess outcomes in patients with and without donor specific antibodies (DSA) and to evaluate the relationship between DSA presence and graft function, cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV), and mortality.

Methods: The study population comprises 193 consecutive long-term heart transplanted (HTx) patients who underwent DSA surveillance between 2016 and 2022. The patients were prospectively screened for CAV through serial coronary angiograms, graft function impairment through serial echocardiograms, and cardiac biomarkers.

During 2010-2018 in Denmark, 638 patients had Vibrio infections diagnosed and 521 patients had Shewanella infections diagnosed. Most cases occurred in years with high seawater temperatures. The substantial increase in those infections, with some causing septicemia, calls for clinical awareness and mandatory notification policies.

( = 29), ( = 26), ( = 6), ( = 28), and ( = 35) strains from different sources, origins, and time periods were tested for the MICs for nine antimicrobial agents by the CLSI-recommended method (Mueller-Hinton broth, 35°C, for 18 to 20 h), as well as with a modified CLSI method (Iso-Sensitest [IST] broth, 37°C [35°C for ], 24 h). This allows a proposal of species-specific epidemiological cutoff values (ECOFFs) for the interpretation of antimicrobial resistance in these species. MICs determined by the modified CLSI method were 2- to 16-fold higher than with the CLSI-recommended method for several antimicrobials.

Weight loss improves ovulation, testosterone levels and insulin resistance in women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), but the optimal diet composition is disputed. A diet low in carbohydrates (LCD) may be superior to a standard diet in terms of improving fertility, endocrine/metabolic parameters, weight loss and satiety in women with PCOS.
