Ventral herniation due to tuberculosis at space of Retzius: a rare presentation.

Tuberculosis may involve any organ in the body and extra-pulmonary tuberculosis is commonly seen in immuno-compromised patients mostly in developing countries. Here we report an unusual case of tuberculosis of space of retzius (pre-peritoneal space) forming a lump, this lump caused weakness of anterior abdominal wall which later developed ventral hernia, corrected by surgery in a 62-year immuno-competent person. This type of presentation of extra-pulmonary tuberculosis at space of Retzius has been rarely reported.

Prevalence of hemoglobinopathy, ABO and rhesus blood groups in rural areas of West Bengal, India.

Background: Hemoglobinopathies are a group of inherited disorders of hemoglobin synthesis. It could be formed a fatal scenario in concern of lacking of actual information. Beside this, ABO and Rh blood grouping are also important matter in transfusion and forensic medicine and to reduce new born hemolytic disease (NHD).

Giant mass conjunctival rhinosporidiosis causing severe mechanical ectropion.

Rhinosporidiosis is a granulomatous disease of the mucous membrane caused by Rhinosporidium seeberi, an organism of uncertain taxonomic position, most probably a fungus. It usually infects mucous membrane of the nose and nasopharynx but may infect mucous membrane of all other parts even the skin. Inoculation of the eye and related structures are grouped as oculosporidiosis.

Rhinosporidiosis in southwest Bengal.

Rhinosporidiosis is a non-contagious chronic granulomatous disease that is prevalent in southern India and Sri Lanka. It has been known for centuries, but the details of the disease and the precise manner of its transmission have, until recently, remained unknown. Our institution sees many cases of this disease and we investigate the management protocol and its recent advances and include a review of the published literature.

Tuberculous epididymo-orchitis in an undescended testis.

We present an uncommon case of tubercular epididymitis in an undescended testis, diagnosed by fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC), which is not reported till now. The treatment is primarily medical with combination of three or four anti-tubercular drugs but sometimes it requires surgical intervention, as in the present case.

Lymphangioma circumscriptum of the scrotum following vasectomy.

Lymphangioma circumscriptum is a congenital lymphatic hamartoma and rarely occurs in the male genital organs. Here we report a case of acquired lymphangioma circumscriptum of scrotum following vasectomy, which has not been reported till date. High clinical suspicion index is the clue to the clinician for diagnosis; histopathological confirmation and adequate surgical excision with deep lymphatic cisterns give the best result.
