Background: Circulating tumor-derived endothelial cell (CTEC) is a new potential tumor biomarker to be associated with cancer development and treatment efficacy. However, few evidences are available for breast cancer.

Methods: Eighty-nine breast cancer patients were recruited, and preoperative and postoperative blood samples were collected.

Viral subunit vaccines often suffer low efficacy. We recently showed that when taken out of the context of whole virus particles, recombinant subunit vaccines contain artificially exposed surface regions that are non-neutralizing and reduce their efficacy, and thus these regions need to be re-buried in vaccine design. Here we used the envelope protein domain III (EDIII) of Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV), a subunit vaccine candidate, to further validate this important concept for subunit vaccine designs.

The histone acetyltransferases CBP and p300, often referred to as CBP/p300 due to their sequence homology and functional overlap and co-operation, are emerging as critical drivers of oncogenesis in the past several years. CBP/p300 induces histone H3 lysine 27 acetylation (H3K27ac) at target gene promoters, enhancers and super-enhancers, thereby activating gene transcription. While earlier studies indicate that CBP/p300 deletion/loss can promote tumorigenesis, CBP/p300 have more recently been shown to be over-expressed in cancer cells and drug-resistant cancer cells, activate oncogene transcription and induce cancer cell proliferation, survival, tumorigenesis, metastasis, immune evasion and drug-resistance.

With the epidemic of betacoronavirus increasing frequently, it poses a great threat to human public health. Therefore, the research on the pathogenic mechanism of betacoronavirus is becoming greatly important. Murine hepatitis virus strain-3 (MHV-3) is a strain of betacoronavirus which cause tissue damage especially fulminant hepatic failure (FHF) in mice, and is commonly used to establish models of acute liver injury.

Emerging evidence proves that exosomes contain specific microRNAs(miRNAs) contribute to osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow stem cells (BMSCs). However, the role and mechanism of bone marrow stem cells (BMSCs)-derived exosomes overexpressing miR-424-5p in osteoblasts remains unclear. Firstly, the BMSCs-derived exosomes were isolated, and identified by Western blot with the exosome surface markers CD9, CD81 and CD63.

Pancreatic cancer is a highly lethal malignancy with poor prognosis due to the lack of early symptoms and resultant late diagnosis. Thus, it is extremely urgent to establish a simple and effective method for the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Although some studies have provided positive evidence for the use of exosomal surface protein glypican-1 (GPC1) as a biomarker for early screening, its clinical application is still controversial.

Article Synopsis
  • Osteosarcoma is a serious type of bone cancer that mostly affects young people aged 20-30, and it's becoming more common.
  • Researchers studied how a specific pathway involving HIF-1, AKT, and Cyclin D1 contributes to the growth and spread of osteosarcoma.
  • They found that HIF-1 promotes cancer cell growth and movement by interacting with AKT, which leads to more stable levels of Cyclin D1, causing even more cell growth and less cell death.

Mounting evidence has indicated that long non‑coding RNAs (lncRNA) serve important roles in tumor development. Previous studies have demonstrated that the lncRNA HOXD cluster antisense RNA 1 (HOXD‑AS1) promotes tumor progression in numerous types of cancer; however, the role of HOXD‑AS1 in colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unclear. In the present study, the expression levels of HOXD‑AS1 were detected in CRC tissues and cell lines using quantitative polymerase chain reaction.

Bone tissue regeneration was closely associated with osteogenesis and angiogenesis. The harmonious regulation of osteogenetic and angiogenic growth factors would enhance bone regeneration, while the imbalance of that would lead to local excessive bone formation or vascular mass due to exogenous delivery. Therefore, microRNA is believed to regulate multiple metabolism progress through endogenous signaling pathways on the gene level.

Bcl-2 is critical for tumorigenesis. However, previous studies on the association of Bcl-2 promoter polymorphisms with predisposition to different cancer types are somewhat contradictory. Therefore, we performed this meta-analysis regarding the relationship between Bcl-2 promoter single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and cancer susceptibility and prognosis.

Objective: To explore the clinical effect of the anterior debridement, bone fusion, single screw-rod fixation for the treatment of lumbosacral tuberculosis.

Methods: From March 2005 to February 2011,18 patients with lumbosacral (L3-S1) tuberculosis (including 13 males and 5 females with an average age of 38.5 years old ranging from 24 to 61 years) were treated with removing focus completely, large piece of iliac bone strut grafting, single screw-rod vertebral lateral anterior internal fixation through anterior extraperitoneal approach.
