Targeted Temperature Management for In-hospital Cardiac Arrest Caused by Thyroid Storm: A Case Report.

Malignant ventricular arrhythmias caused by thyroid storm, such as ventricular tachycardia (VT) or ventricular fibrillation (VF), which are life-threatening, are rare. We report the case of a patient who suffered from cardiac arrest caused by thyroid storm and the rare VF; the patient showed a favorable neurologic outcome after receiving targeted temperature management (TTM) treatment by intravascular cooling measures. A 24-year-old woman who had lost 20 kg in the preceding 2 months presented to the emergency department with diarrhea, vomiting, fever, and tachycardia.

The history of hemodialysis in China.

The technique of hemodialysis was introduced into China more than 50 years ago; and both research and use of clinical hemodialysis began in mid-1960s to late-1960s. A brief review of the history of hemodialysis in China is presented here, including a brief description of pioneers and their contributions, local development and use of dialyzers, hemodialysis machines, and vascular access, and dialysis management and logistics.

Leukocytapheresis Therapy for Rheumatoid Arthritis: Results Compared with Control Trial.

Context: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic multisystem autoimmune disease, mainly characterized by synovitis and with symmetrical joint involvement. LCAP therapy for RA patients has been shown to be safe and efficacious in some developed countries for over a decade.

Objective: The study intended to evaluate the efficacy and safety of leukocytopheresis (LCAP) for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and to study the influence of treatment on the levels of various serum cytokines.

Iguratimod ameliorates bleomycin-induced alveolar inflammation and pulmonary fibrosis in mice by suppressing expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9.

Aim: To investigate the potential therapeutic efficacy of iguratimod (IGU) on bleomycin (BLM)-induced pulmonary fibrosis in mice.

Methods: A total of 75 C57BL/6 mice were randomly and evenly divided into control group, BLM (5 mg/kg) group, BLM + IGU (90 mg/kg) group, BLM + methylprednisolone (MP, 10 mg/kg) group and BLM + pirfenidone (PF, 100 mg/kg) group. The mice were sacrificed on day 7, 14 and 28.

Effect of colchicine in prevention of pericardial effusion and atrial fibrillation: a meta-analysis.
