Three novel copper(II)-based complexes Cu-1, Cu-2, and Cu-3 containing sulfamethoxazole or sulfamethazine ligand were obtained, and their single structures were characterized. Both Cu-1 and Cu-3 show a broad spectrum of cytotoxicity than Cu-2, and Cu-1 is more cytotoxic than Cu-3. What's interesting is that Cu-1 can exhibit obvious inhibitory effect on the growth of human triple-negative breast cancer in vivo and vitro through anti-proliferative, anti-angiogenic, anti-inflammatory, pro-apoptotic and cuproptotic synergistic effects.

The novel metal(II)-based complexes HA-Cu, HA-Co, and HA-Ni with phenanthroline, sulfamethazine, and aromatic-aromatic coupled disulfamethazines as ligands were synthesized and characterized. HA-Cu, HA-Co, and HA-Ni all showed a broad spectrum of cytotoxicity and antiangiogenesis. HA-Cu was superior to HA-Co and HA-Ni, and even superior to DDP, showing significant inhibitory effect on the growth and development of tripe-negative breast cancer in vivo and in vitro.

Diosgenin can inhibit the proliferation and cause apoptosis of various tumor cells, and its inhibitory effect on oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and its mechanism are still unclear. In this study, we predicted the targets of diosgenin for the treatment of OSCC through the database, then performed bioinformatics analysis of the targets, and further verified the effect of diosgenin on the activity of OSCC cell line HSC-3, the transcriptional profile of the targets and the molecular docking of the targets with diosgenin. The results revealed that there were 146 potential targets of diosgenin for OSCC treatment, which involved signaling pathways such as Ras, TNF, PI3K-AKT, HIF, NF-κB, and could regulate cellular activity through apoptosis, autophagy, proliferation and differentiation, inflammatory response, DNA repair, etc.

Our previous data have revealed TCP particles caused cell death of osteocytes, comprising over 95 % of all bone cells, which contribute to periprosthetic osteolysis, joint loosening and implant failure, but its mechanisms are not fully understood. Here, we reported that TCP particles inhibited cell viability of osteocytes MLO-Y4, and caused cell death. TCP particles caused mitochondrial impairment and increased expressions of LC-3 II, Parkin and PINK 1, accompanied by the elevation of autophagy flux and intracellular acidic components, the accumulation of LC-3II, PINK1 and Parkin in damaged mitochondria, and p62 reduction.

Factors affecting sperm freezability in goat seminal plasma were investigated. Herein, we present a mild strategy for deprotecting cyclic sulfamidates via the Kukhtin-Ramirez reaction to access amino sugars. The method features the removal of the sulfonic group of cyclic sulfamidates, which occurs through an N-H insertion reaction that implicates the Kukhtin-Ramirez adducts, followed by a base-promoted reductive N-S bond cleavage. The mild reaction conditions of the protocol enable the formation of amino alcohols including analogs that bear multiple functional groups.

Synthesis of 3,5--3-amino glycals with a -fused cyclic sulfamidate group has been achieved by selective reduction of sulfamidate ketimine groups. The efficient access to the structurally unique glycals allowed the subsequent divergent synthesis of various naturally occurring 3-amino-2,3,6-trideoxysugars. In addition, Lewis acid-promoted glycosylation of the glycals provided a simple solution for the stereoselective installation of O- and C-linked aglycons on the amino sugar scaffolds.

An efficient in-situ self-cleaning catalytic ceramic-membrane tailored with MnO-CoO nanoparticles (Mn-Co-CM) was fabricated. Density functional theory calculations result substantiated that molecular ozone could be effectively adsorbed by oxygen vacancies (OV) on the Mn-Co-CM surface and then direct activated into a surface-bound atomic oxygen (*O) and a peroxide (*O), ultimately producing OH. Mn-Co-CM coupling with ozone efficiently removed foulants from the permeate and the membrane surface simultaneously and leading to in-situ formation of OH that changed the nature of the irreversible foulants and ultimately resulted in the rapid release and degradation of humic acid-like substances causing irreversible fouling.
