Article Synopsis
  • * A dataset of 566 diabetes cases was analyzed using various algorithms to develop predictive models, with results divided into low-risk and high-risk categories for DFU, employing a Monte Carlo cross-validation method for further analysis.
  • * Results showed that the ensemble learning method provided the best performance for predicting DFU risk, validated with an independent dataset to confirm the model's reliability across different populations.

Excess sludge is rich in organic matter but also contains heavy metals, pathogens, and harmful substances. In this study, hydroaluminite and excess sludge were used as raw materials to reduce the risk of heavy metals leaching from sludge by coagulation and co-pyrolysis, and its phosphate adsorption characteristics were studied. The results showed that the leaching amount of Zn, Cu, Cd, and Ni in sludge biochar decreased with the increase in the hydroaluminite dosage.

Objective: This meta-analysis was conducted with the aim of investigating the association between gene polymorphisms and non-syndromic cleft lip (CL) with or without cleft palate (NSCL/P) predisposition.

Methods: A comprehensive literature search was performed in six online databases including PubMed, Embase, ISI Web of Science, CENTRAL, CNKI, and Wanfang from inception up to June 2018 without language restriction. Pooled odds ratios (ORs) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (95%CIs) were calculated under allele model of inheritance to indicate the association between polymorphisms and NSCL/P.

In this study, carbohydrates (cellulose plus hemicellulose) in corncob were effectively converted furfuralcohol (FOL) via chemical-enzymatic catalysis in a one-pot manner. After corncob (2.5 g, dry weight) was pretreated with 0.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers successfully synthesized furfuralcohol from xylose derived from corncobs using a combined method of solid acid catalysis and whole-cell biotransformation.
  • The catalyst SO/SnO-kaoline achieved a furfural yield of 74.3% when processing xylose in a specific toluene-water mixture at high temperature.
  • After mixing the resulting furfural with corncob hydrolysate, the engineered E. coli completely converted it to furfuralcohol, demonstrating a viable method for efficiently utilizing corncob waste.

Background: This study aimed to analyze the association between Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Internet addiction (IA).

Methods: A systematic literature search was performed in four online databases in total including CENTRAL, EMBASE, PubMed and PsychINFO. Observational studies (case-control, cross-sectional and cohort studies) measuring the correlation between IA and ADHD were screened for eligibility.

The complete sequence of the mitochondrial genome of the white-spotted char (Salvelinus leucomaenis) was determined to be 16,658 bp in length, which contains the control region (CR), the origin of light-strand replication (OL), 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal genes and 13 protein-coding genes. Overall, base composition of the complete mitochondrial DNA was 28.20% A, 26.

Body weight and body length have been considered as the most important production traits for the fish genetic improvement. For cold-water fish, body length was usually substituted by fork length. In order to estimate the heritability of body weight and fork length of the sixth generation Oncorhynchus masou masou, which was introduced into China, the method of unbalanced nest design and an artificial insemination technigue were used.
