Background: Posterior circulation infarction (PCI) is the most common manifestation of vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia (VBD). Vessel wall enhancement (VWE) in high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (HR-MRI) is associated with ischemic stroke.

Objectives: This study aims to evaluate different quantitative VWE parameters in identifying PCI in VBD patients by comparing the sensitivity of each VWE parameter.

Objective: Peripheral nerve injury results in functional alterations of the corresponding active brain areas, which are closely related to functional recovery. Whether such functional plasticity induces relative anatomical structural changes remains to be investigated.

Methods: In this study, we investigated the changes in brain cortical thickness in patients with facial paralysis following neurorrhaphy treatment at different follow-up times.

Article Synopsis
  • * A total of 186 videos were evaluated using the Global Quality Score (GQS) and modified DISCERN (mDISCERN) tools, showing a median GQS score of 3 and an mDISCERN score of 2, with health professional videos rated higher than those from individual users.
  • * The findings indicate that only a small percentage of videos adequately covered lung cancer complications, and there is a positive correlation between video quality scores and factors such as video duration.

This study aims to develop a reliable predictive model for assessing intracranial aneurysm (IA) instability by utilizing four-dimensional flow magnetic resonance imaging (4D-Flow MRI) and high-resolution MRI (HR-MRI). Initially, we curated a prospective dataset, dubbed the primary cohort, by aggregating patient data that was consecutively enrolled across two centers from November 2018 to November 2021. Unstable aneurysms were defined as those with symptoms, morphological change or ruptured during follow-up periods.

  • New daily persistent headache (NDPH) is a rare headache disorder with constant, sudden-onset pain, and this study examines its unique structural brain abnormalities compared to healthy controls.
  • Researchers used advanced MRI techniques to analyze gray and white matter, focusing on brain connectivity and fiber tracts in 22 NDPH patients and 29 healthy participants.
  • Results revealed significant differences in brain structure: decreased connectivity and specific issues in certain brain regions in NDPH patients, which can help predict pain intensity based on neuroimaging features.*

Article Synopsis
  • Cerebral venous disruption may hinder glymphatic drainage in small vessel disease, affecting brain health.
  • A study examined 31 patients using advanced MR imaging to assess the relationships between venous integrity, perivascular diffusivity (DTI-ALPS index), and neuroimaging features of cerebral small vessel disease.
  • Results indicated that lower DTI-ALPS scores correspond with impaired venous function, leading to increased white matter hyperintensity and perivascular space volume, suggesting a mediating role of DTI-ALPS in these associations.

Background: Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) studies have indicated that the imbalance between gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and glutamate/glutamine (Glx) levels was the potential cause of migraine development. However, the changes in the GABA and Glx levels in patients with New daily persistent headache (NDPH) remain unclear. This study aimed to investigate the changes in GABA and Glx levels in the periaqueductal gray (PAG) and dentate nucleus (DN) in patients with NDPH using the MEGA-PRESS sequence.

Zinc metal anodes in aqueous electrolytes commonly face challenges such as dendrite growth and undesirable side reactions, limiting their application in the field of aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) for energy storage. Drawing inspiration from industrial practices involving molybdenum salt solutions for metal modification, a polyoxometalate solution was formulated as a passivation solution for zinc anodes (referred to as MO solution). The formed passivation layer, referred to as the MO layer, exhibited a uniform and protective nature with a thickness of approximately 10 μm.

Objectives: The new daily persistent headache (NDPH) is a rare primary headache disorder. However, the underlying mechanisms of NDPH remain incompletely understood. This study aims to apply seed-based analysis to explore the functional connectivity (FC) of brainstem nuclei in patients with NDPH using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Background: Preliminary evidence suggests that several headache disorders may be associated with glymphatic dysfunction. However, no studies have been conducted to examine the glymphatic activity in migraine chronification.

Purposes: To investigate the glymphatic activity of migraine chronification in patients with episodic migraine (EM) and chronic migraine (CM) using the diffusion tensor image analysis along the perivascular space (DTI-ALPS) method.

Background: Amygdala, an essential element of the limbic system, has served as an important structure in pain modulation. There is still a lack of clarity about altered cerebral perfusion of amygdala in migraine. This study aimed to investigate the perfusion variances of bilateral amygdala in episodic migraine (EM) and chronic migraine (CM) using multi-delay pseudo-continuous arterial spin-labeled magnetic resonance imaging (pCASL-MRI).

The cerebral environment is a complex system consisting of parenchymal tissue and multiple fluids. Dementia is a common class of neurodegenerative diseases, caused by structural damages and functional deficits in the cerebral environment. In order to better understand the pathology of dementia from a cerebral fluid transport angle and provide clearer evidence that could help differentiate between dementia subtypes, such as Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia, we conducted fluid-structure interaction modelling of the brain using a multiple-network poroelasticity model, which considers both neuropathological and cerebrovascular factors.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) have caused significant research attention due to their low redox potential of 0.76 V, high theoretical capacity of 820 mAh g. However, the dendrite growth of zinc anode and the side reactions caused by water seriously affect the cycle life of AZIBs.

Inflammation plays an integral role in the formation, growth, and progression to rupture of unruptured intracranial aneurysms. Aneurysm wall enhancement (AWE) in high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (HR-MRI) has emerged as a surrogate biomarker of vessel wall inflammation and unruptured intracranial aneurysm instability. We investigated the correlation between anti-inflammatory drug use and three-dimensional AWE of fusiform intracranial aneurysms (FIAs).

In recent years, ultra-high-field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) applications have been rapidly increasing in both clinical research and practice. Indeed, 7-Tesla (7T) MRI allows improved depiction of smaller structures with high signal-to-noise ratio, and, therefore, may improve lesion visualization, diagnostic capabilities, and thus potentially affect treatment decision-making. Incremental evidence emerging from research over the past two decades has provided a promising prospect of 7T magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) in the evaluation of intracranial vasculature.

Aqueous zinc ion batteries (AZIBs) are receiving broad attention owing to their high safety and low cost. However, the high mechanical strength and irreversible growth of zinc dendrites limit the practical application of AZIBs. Herein, regular mesh-like gullies are built on the surface of zinc foil (M150 Zn) by using simple model pressing method and stainless steel mesh as a mold.
