Objective: Frailty is a significant public health issue facing aging societies and can be reduced by physical activity (PA), but the dose-response relationship between PA and frailty is not clear. This systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis aimed to assess the effect of PA on frailty in adults by aggregating data from observational studies.

Methods: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Scopus, SAGE Reference Online, SinoMed, CINAHL and CNKI were retrieved for articles published before May 2024.

Because of their strong anti-cancer efficacy with fewer side effects, traditional Chinese medicines (TCM) have attracted considerable attention for their potential application in treating breast cancer (BC). However, knowledge about the underlying systematic mechanisms is scarce. Gynostemma pentaphyllum (Thunb.

Objective: Codonopsis Radix and Polygonati Rhizoma (CRPR) has a good hypoglycemic effect. The aims of the present study were to investigate the effect of CRPR on high-fat/high-sugar diet (HFHSD)- and streptozotocin (STZ)-induced type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) mice as well as to investigate the involved mechanism.

Methods: A T2DM mouse model was generated by combining HFHSD and STZ.

Shuxiong prescription (Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma, Chuanxiong Rhizome and Carthami Flos) has the function of activating blood circulation to dissipate blood stasis, activating meridians to stop pain. This paper was mainly aimed to discuss the transport characteristics of Shuxiong prescription across Caco-2 cell monolayer. Safe concentration range of Shuxiong prescription against Caco-2 cell monolayer model was determined by MTT assay.

A Cu(OAc)-catalyzed domino tricyclization between naphthalene-1,8-diamine and 2-(phenylethynyl)benzaldehyde is described, enabling aerobic oxidative dehydrogenation coupling to access heptacyclic quinolizino[3,4,5,6-kla]perimidines. In this reaction, the formation of three new rings and four new bonds was achieved in a functional-group-compatible fashion, allowing a facile method toward fused aza-heterocycles containing both quinolizine and perimidine moieties.

An iodine-catalyzed reaction of 2-aminobenzamides and mucobromic acid was described and utilized to synthesize a variety of 6-oxo-5,6-dihydrodibenzo[b,h][1,6]naphthyridine-11-carboxamide derivatives in refluxing THF. As the two bromine atoms in mucobromic acid were found missing in the dibenzonaphthyridine products, a domino-type reaction mechanism involving a double elimination of hydrogen bromide was proposed.

The phytoestrogen puerarin has been shown to protect neurons and astrocytes in the brain, and is therefore an attractive drug in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and cerebral ischemia. Whether puerarin exhibits the same biological processes in neurons and astrocytes in vitro has rarely been reported. In this study, cortical neurons and astrocytes of newborn Sprague-Dawley rats were separated, identified and co-cultured in a system based on Transwell membranes.
