The sluggish anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysis necessitates applied bias to facilitate electron transfer as well as bond cleavage and formation. Traditional electrocatalysis focuses on analyzing the effects of electron transfer, while the role of charge accumulation induced by the applied overpotential has not been thoroughly investigated. However, there is no data regarding the clinical background and antimicrobial susceptibility of NVT isolates compared with those of vaccine serotype (VT) isolates in adult pneumococcal pneumonia.

In pursuing high stability and power conversion efficiency for organic photovoltaics (OPVs), a sequential deposition (SD) approach to fabricate active layers with p-i-n structures (where p, i, and n represent the electron donor, mixed donor:acceptor, and electron acceptor regions, respectively, distinctively different from the bulk heterojunction (BHJ) structure) has emerged. Here, we present a novel approach that by incorporating two polymer donors, and , and one small-molecule acceptor, , into the active layer with sequential deposition, we formed a device with nanometer-scale twin p-i-n structured active layer. The twin p-i-n device involved first depositing a blend under layer and then a top layer and exhibited an improved power conversion efficiency (PCE) value of 18.

Modulation of the local electronic structure of isolated coordination structures plays a critical role in electrocatalysis yet remains a grand challenge. Herein, we have achieved electron perturbation for the isolated iron coordination structure via tuning the iron spin state from a high spin state (FeN) to a medium state (FeNB). The transition of spin polarization facilitates electron penetration into the antibonding π orbitals of nitrogen and effectively activates nitrogen molecules, thereby achieving an ammonia yield of 115 μg h mg and a Faradaic efficiency of 24.

This is the first report on a population-based prospective study of invasive group B streptococcus (GBS) disease among children aged <15 years conducted over a period of 11 years in Japan. This study investigated the incidence and clinical manifestations of invasive GBS disease in children in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, and analysed the serotypes and drug susceptibility of GBS strains isolated during the study period. Overall, 127 episodes of invasive GBS disease were reported in 123 patients.

We report 2 adult cases of invasive disease in Japan caused by Streptococcus oralis that expressed the serotype 3 pneumococcal capsule and formed mucoid colonies. Whole-genome sequencing revealed that the identical serotype 3 pneumococcal capsule locus and hyl fragment were recombined into the genomes of 2 distinct S. oralis strains.
