Courtesy Stigma and HIV Professionals: A Brief Review of Implications for Psychosocial and Professional Well-Being.

The impact of HIV-related stigma on social workers, clinicians, counselors, and advocates working in organizations serving people living with HIV (PLWH), is rarely considered. Professionals experience "courtesy stigma" when working with or on behalf of PLWH, regardless of their personal HIV status. PubMed, Medline, and PsycInfo databases, along with a review of relevant reference lists and referrals, identified 13 studies addressing this phenomenon.

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the development and impact of a project to create a statewide test bank of Next Generation NCLEX®-style items.

Backround: Using a train-the-trainer model, champions created an open access resource of Next Generation NCLEX-style items to use to teach clinical judgment and then trained peers on item writing and test bank use.

Creating a Peer Review Process for Faculty-Developed Next Generation NCLEX Items.

Background: This article reports the findings from a pilot study of a peer review process used with a group of faculty champions who were writing items for a state-wide initiative to establish a Next Generation NCLEX item teaching test bank.

Methods: Champions were oriented to the peer review process in a face-to-face session and completed reviews using the Clinical Judgment Item Peer Review Form created for the project.

Results: Eighteen faculty from 13 different schools attended the session and completed 55 reviews of 40 cases and 35 stand-alone items.

Background: Group care (GC) improves the quality of maternity care, stimulates women's participation in their own care and facilitates growth of women's social support networks. There is an urgent need to identify and disseminate the best mechanisms for implementing GC in ways that are feasible, context appropriate and sustainable. This protocol presents the aims and methods of an innovative implementation research project entitled Group Care in the first 1000 days (GC_1000), which addresses this need.

Background: Transfusion-related adverse events can be unrecognized and unreported. As part of the US Food and Drug Administration's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research Biologics Effectiveness and Safety initiative, we explored whether machine learning methods, such as natural language processing (NLP), can identify and report transfusion allergic reactions (ARs) from electronic health records (EHRs).

Study Design And Methods: In a 4-year period, all 146 reported transfusion ARs were pulled from a database of 86,764 transfusions in an academic health system, along with a random sample of 605 transfusions without reported ARs.

Objectives: Clinical literature and contraception information guides use the terms "male sterilization" and "vasectomy" interchangeably. We investigate the meanings men attach to "sterilization" and how those meanings compare to perceptions of "vasectomy."

Impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the productivity of academics who mother.

The aim of the study is to document how academics who mother have reorganized work and childcare since the beginning of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the United States, how those shifts have affected their academic productivity, and solutions proposed by academics living these experiences. We collected data via an online survey and, subsequently, by conducting qualitative interviews with a subsample of participants. From June to August 2020, 131 female-identified academics who mother were recruited via a Facebook group, , and participated in our online survey.

Background: Up to two-thirds of pregnancies among young, unmarried women in the United States are unintended, despite increased access to highly effective contraceptive options.

Men's Vasectomy Knowledge, Attitudes, and Information-Seeking Behaviors in the Southern United States: Results From an Exploratory Survey.

Vasectomy is one of the few options men have to manage their reproductive capacity and take on a more equitable role in pregnancy prevention. While the method is underused throughout the United States, the southern states have a lower prevalence rate compared to the rest of the country. Existing survey research does not assess what men know or think about the procedure as a means of understanding why this is the case.

"The Only Way We'll Be Successful": Organizational Factors That Influence Psychosocial Well-Being and Self-Care Among Advocates Working to Address Gender-Based Violence.

Advocates who work for nonprofit organizations (NPOs) that address gender-based violence (GBV) experience a wide range of psychosocial health and well-being risks due to the emotionally demanding nature of the work they engage in. Most recommendations for advocates' self-care focus on individual-level activities, failing to hold the NPOs accountable for creating workplace cultures and practices that foster psychosocial well-being, self-care, and resilience among the advocates. The aim of this qualitative research was to further our understanding of organizational-level factors that influence psychosocial well-being and self-care practices among advocates who work for GBV-specific NPOs in a metropolitan area in the southeastern United States.

Background: The competencies are the gold standard to ensure academic nurse educators have the knowledge and skill to teach, assist learners, develop curricula, and implement effective evaluation methods.

Method: A descriptive design that applied web scraping techniques was used to collect data from school web pages, including course descriptions, credit hours, practica information, distance accessibility, and Certified Nurse Educator exam preparation.

Strategies to Teach the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Clinical Judgment Model.

Background: There is a growing concern that novice nurses who achieve licensure do not have the clinical judgment to practice safely. The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) began the Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) project to find methods to better assess entry-level competency. The NGN project is based on an integrative clinical judgment model (CJM) with 6 well-defined cognitive steps.

Core strategies, social processes, and contextual influences of early phases of implementation and statewide scale-up of group prenatal care in South Carolina.

This mixed-methods process evaluation examined a state-wide, interagency collaborative in South Carolina that expanded CenteringPregnancy group prenatal care from two to five additional healthcare practices from 2012 to 2015. The evaluation focused on delineating core processes, strategies, and external contextual elements of group prenatal care implementation and scale-up. Success of this scale-up was enhanced by the effective use and creation of windows of opportunity, which allowed stakeholders to pursue actions consistent with their own values, at both state and organizational levels.

Identifying how activists frame the topic of abortion is key to unpacking their understanding of "abortion" in Peru. It is important to explore how and why certain frames are privileged in attempts to shift policy and social norms. In 2016, the authors conducted qualitative interviews with 10 activists in Lima, Peru to develop a deep understanding of these issues.

Food insecurity is highly detrimental for children, who experience food insecurity differently than do adults. We aimed to understand concordance and discordance of adults' and children's knowledge, understanding, and description of children's experience of food insecurity. In-depth interviews were conducted with the primary caregiver, another caregiver, and a child 9 to 16 years of age in 16 Hispanic families at risk of food insecurity in South Carolina.
