Objective: Viral infections are an important cause of exacerbation in bronchiectasis patients. We aimed to determine the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on adult bronchiectasis patients and whether there was a relationship between the clinical parameters and the COVID-19 infection.
Patients And Methods: In this retrospective observational study, 547 bronchiectasis patients were included.
Objective: We aimed to analyze clinical, radiological, and laboratory differences between vaccinated and unvaccinated patients admitted to hospital due to coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia.
Methods: Patients hospitalized in the COVID-19 clinic between February 2022 and August 2022 were included in the study. Demographic, clinical features, and treatment results.
Objective: The coronavirus disease-2019 pandemic has affected the entire health system and patients other than coronavirus-infected patients. Hospital admissions of cancer patients decreased during the closure periods due to the pandemic. This study was conducted to determine whether there was an effect on the hospital admissions of newly diagnosed lung cancer patients in Turkey during the corona- virus disease-2019 pandemic.

We investigated the effects of luteolin (LUT) treatment on acute lung injury caused by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) induced septic rats. We also investigated the relation between LUT and the cytokines, interleukin-10 (IL-10) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). LUT was administered 1 h after CLP surgery.

Introduction: That EGCG has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities as well as antibacterial activity against many streptococcus species suggests that it may be beneficial in the treatment of AOM.
Objective: Aim of the study is to reveal the molecular and biochemical effects of EGCG on LPS induced otitis media in rats.
Methods: Forty-two male albino Wistar rats were randomly divided into 7 groups.
In many physiological bodily functions, and in the pathogenesis of inflammation, ions are exchanged between intracellular and extracellular areas. Amiodarone is a multiple ion channel (Ca++, Na+, K+) blocking drug, effective anti-arrhythmic drug, and phospholipase inhibitor. The aim of this study is to examine a role of polymorphonuclear leukocyte infiltration in amiodarone's anti-inflammatory effect on experimental paw inflammation.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the protective effect of the pineal hormone melatonin in a model of acute local inflammation (carrageenan-induced paw oedema). Inflammation was assessed by measurement of nitric oxide (NO), Malondialdehyde (MDA) and glutathione levels in the paw tissue in rats. The intraplantar injection of carrageenan elicited an inflammatory response that was characterised by a time-dependent increase in paw oedema, increased level of nitrite/nitrate and MDA, a lipid peroxidation product and decreased glutathione levels in the paw tissue.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOxygen radical release has been proposed as a pathogenic factor of the ethanol-induced acute gastric injury. Melatonin, a pineal hormone, is known to scavenge oxygen free radicals. We investigated whether parenteral administration of melatonin prevented ethanol-induced macroscopic damage, polymorphonuclear (PMN) leukocyte infiltration, depletion of total glutathione (tGSH) concentration, and glutathione reductase (GSSG-Rd) activity in the rat gastric mucosa.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIt is known that calcium ion has an important role in the cellular function. For this reason, calcium channel blockers may have a protective action against gastric injury which is induced by various stimuli. In this study, the influence of mibefradil on ethanol-induced gastric injury was investigated in rats.

The intraplantar injection of histamine elicited an inflammatory response that was characterized by a time-dependent increase in paw oedema and neutrophil infiltration in paw tissue. The maximal increase in paw volume was observed at 90 min after histamine administration (maximal paw volume: 0.

For this purpose, human erythrocyte glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase was purified, at the beginning, 13.654 times in a yield of 28% by using ammonium sulphate precipitation and 2',5'-ADP Sepharose 4B affinity gel.
