Background: The incidence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is increasing with obesity, and it is believed that the ongoing low-grade inflammation in obesity and alterations in the enterohepatic axis contributing this process. This study aimed to determine the role of fecal calprotectin (FC) as inflammatory biomarker in obesity and NAFLD.
Methods: Between November 2022-August 2023, 31 obese and 10 healthy adolescents aged between 10 and 18 years enrolled in this prospective controlled study.

The primary objective of this prospective study was to evaluate the impact of SARS-CoV-2, on ovarian function, with a focus on anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) and acute phase reactant levels in patients well after recovery from coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19).

Yet, the relative infancy of non-coding RNAs recognition as biomarkers poses a challenge due to the absence of a consensus on a universally accepted normalizer gene, an absolute requirement for accurate quantification.

Materials And Methods: This study used claims data obtained between October 1, 2015 and February 28, 2019 from the CMS database to examine the utility of machine learning in identifying incident anaphylaxis cases. We created a feature selection pipeline to identify critical features between different datasets.
Background: As a two-stage surgical procedure, Masquelet's technique has been used to care for critical-size bone defects (CSD). We aimed to determine the effects of modified and altered bone cement with biological or chemical enriching agents on the progression of Masquelet's induced membrane (IM) applied to a rat femur CSD model, and to compare the histopathological, biochemical, and immunohistochemical findings of these cements to enhance IM capacity.
Methods: Thirty-five male rats were included in five groups: plain polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), estrogen-impregnated PMMA (E+PMMA), bone chip added PMMA (BC+PMMA), hydroxyapatite-coated PMMA (HA) and calcium phosphate cement (CPC).
Background: The pandemic has had a significant impact on the daily lives of children and their families, particularly the children of health care workers, due to changes in family routines as a result of their parents' work schedules. We aimed to explore the socioemotional and behavioural (SEB) problems of children of healthcare worker mothers (HCWM) during the COVID-19 pandemic and compare them with age-matched children and their mothers from other occupations.
Method: A case-control study design was applied, and a snowball approach was used to enrol volunteered participants aged between 6 and 36 months of age, through a Google survey.
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has raised concerns about the potential complications it may cause in pregnant women. Therefore, biomarkers that can predict the course of COVID-19 in pregnant women may be of great benefit as they would provide valuable insights into the prognosis and, thus, the management of the disease. Research Design And Methods: We performed retrospective longitudinal case-control analysis of data from 178 participants of the Anglo-Danish-Dutch Study of Intensive Treatment in People with Screen-Detected Diabetes in Primary Care-Denmark (ADDITION-Denmark) cohort of people with screen-detected type 2 diabetes. Biobank samples acquired at the ADDITION-Denmark 5- and 10-year follow-ups were analyzed for serum NfL (s-NfL) using single-molecule array, and the results were compared with established reference material to obtain NfL z-scores.

Biological images captured by microscopes are characterized by heterogeneous signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) due to spatially varying photon emission across the field of view convoluted with camera noise. State-of-the-art unsupervised structured illumination microscopy (SIM) reconstruction algorithms, commonly implemented in the Fourier domain, do not accurately model this noise and suffer from high-frequency artifacts, user-dependent choices of smoothness constraints making assumptions on biological features, and unphysical negative values in the recovered fluorescence intensity map. On the other hand, supervised methods rely on large datasets for training, and often require retraining for new sample structures.
